Just wondering if anyone has one or tried one....is this a large V neck like on the Eric Johnson or a smaller V profile?

Thanks for any info.

I have an EJ and a new series AmDlx V-neck. The V-neck is smaller than the EJ but larger that the standard Fender profile. It is also more of an even shape all the way up.
I'm not really a 'V' fan but I've come to love this neck.

This.

I, too, have become a fan of the Am Dlx V neck. I have three Am Dlx Strats with the C neck and I love 'em, but the V has settled in as my favorite.

The new compound radius model V has the nicest neck I've ever played on a Fender but its all personal opinion.

I had a HSS American Deluxe with the compound C neck and it was fantastic...fast and great action. I really want to try one of these with the v neck. However, I don't generally care for larger necks. For example, I prefer the 60s Gibson profile over the 50s. How much larger is the v than the c? Is it substantially larger or just slightly with a different shape? I know this is tough to describe but my local shops do not carry these to try out. If I buy one I will have to mail order. I really love the look of the tinted necks.

I can only speak to the original version of the AmDlx V-neck vs. a modern C neck. I do not get along with the size or taper of the typical modern C profile, but I could live with the V-neck. IIRC, the V is about .02" deeper and has slightly more taper up the neck than the C. Doesn't sound like much, but it worked better for me when I had it. It seemed a little chunkier than a Clapton V-neck. Maybe like a 57RI V neck with wider nut and flatter radius.

I agree somewhat with Kelsey but I feel the neck is about the same as the Clapton; at least the ones I tried.

What is going on here IMO is, it has the shoulders and some of the slimness of the modern C necks, but with a keel of sorts down the center that you can rest a weary thumb on. Just more comfortable IMO than the neck on the regular Deluxes. Does not offend the "slim neck" guys the way some big Vees do because it frankly isn't that big. And that same thing can be said basically about all the MIM Fender Strat Vees (but not about the Baja). The Jimmie Vaughan started big but really isn't since 96 and I confess I was deceiving myself about that for a while.

Does it SOUND like a bigas$ boatneck or fatback? Nah, not really. Any difference in sound between this and a regular Deluxe is gonna be mighty subtle.

Got it yesterday from Musicians Friend at a great price.
The neck and guitar is very nice but the neck is not big enough for me. My favorite necks thus far are the Baja Tele and EJ Strat. The main reason this thing is going back is because someone messed up the wiring and the neck pickup is out of phase-literally, no low end and very nasal. Disappointing for a new guitar but I actually do like the tone from the N3 pickups. Didn't care for them on the Teles but I like them on the Strat.

I will now continue my search for a used EJ Strat. Thanks everyone for the input!

Wow...too bad it wasn't right. They have a used candy red right now I am thinkin about. How was the fit and finish? Was it a used one? What kind of price did they give you. Thanks for any info!

It was used, fit and finish were very good. It was $1199 and I got 15% off with the Santa coupon, free shipping. I would order another one if the neck was just a bit bigger.
