...just getting a Hot Rod Deluxe and calling it a day. Theyre really cheap used, and have a good clean sound. Ive got a 50's tweed Gibson GA20 that will do the tweed deluxe / amp blowing up thing, so I think that and the HRD would work out just fine.

I always seem to sound like myself anyway. This way I can save a couple hundred (or thousand) dollars.

What say you guys?

I like mine. #1 gig amp. Only use the clean channel, get my dirt with pedals.

Hot Rods are great pedal platform amps. You might be able to score one for $250 used. The cleans aren't bad, reverb is excellent, and the gain stages are sub-standard.

Might not be a bad idea to experiment with different tubes and speakers, maybe to sort of personalize it to your tastes.

And there's always Omega mods too.
