Just tried a no name 200$ parlour guitar in the shop and i'm blown away ! the tone it produces is rich and mellow and it is amazingly easy to play, wow.
Much much better than most of the dreadnoughts i tried in the same shop. Any cool brands i should check ? Share your passion :)
I've looked in Simon & Patrik and Seagull.
Thanks

I love my Larrivee parlor. I tend to find dreadnoughts too uneven (too dark, boomy, bassy) and not responsive or articulate enough for my tastes.

Here's my wife's Larrivée Parlor that I bought a year ago. I love the sound of it. It looks very different now; the wood has darkened considerably, I added a tortoise pickguard and a Baggs iBeam system. Next I'm gonna have Joe Glaser give it a bone nut and bridge saddle.

BTW, this thread should probably be in the "Acoustics" section.

If you're "on a budget" , try the Little Martin with the spruce top ( LX1) .
14 Fret , super tone for the $$

Cort Earth 900 for under $400. I added a bone saddle. Solid tone and sustain, records well with a km184. Here's a clip using the Cort and km184 for tonal reference:

Forgot to mention, the Cort has a solid cedar top and solid mahogany back. Better build quality than you might expect from Cort. This guitar was recommended by a local pro who uses one in the studio, told me it was a sleeper.
If money is no object(which it almost always is!) I would snap up a Santa Cruz with Brazilian rosewood and Adirondack spruce top. I guess that would run about 5k, and I wouldn't recommend leaving it out on a stand.:)

On a budget, the Larrivee is the way to go. Man, those things are great.
However, if you wanted to put some money into one, look for an old Martin. Not technically a parlor but, IMO, a pre-war 0-18 is one of the best sounding guitars ever made. Look for one even in the later 40's or 50's. What alot of people don't realize about the "0" is that it's almost 1/4" deeper than a "00" or "000"....which really beefs these little guitars up.

I have a GO Type II Parlor Guitar/Travel guitar, it's a great guitar, wide nut, 14 frets, hand built.
