Whoa! The first truly 'kindred pedalboard spirit' I've seen here! I'm not using the exact same pedals, but we're pretty close in a few ways. I've though about adding the Stone Deaf PDF1, also looking at the Empress Para EQ. I'm gonna guess you play some awesome music!

Hey ! Glad to hear such things ! You sure have some good tastes ! :D
I see that we have indeed the same kind of effects. The main difference will be at the end of the chain as i plug this pedalboard into 6L6 amps (Fender or Soldano).
The Stone Deaf nails perfectly the Maestro sounds (i've got 2 of them) for a VERY reasonnable price. Can't recommend enough...
As for the music my band plays, someone once said, after a gig, that we were some kind of "A Stoner version of REM" :rotflmao

The Lunar Module I had was great...much more versatile than my Sunface.

Great, ask the $64,000 question and get the $200 answer. That's okay, though. Maybe that and the SD can take he place of the SD, SF, Beano. Thanks. I am so smitten with my Screwdriver I am happy to try anything Skreddy's got on hand.

Finally got around to getting some pictures. Of course, while this is the current state of the board, I'm also planning to revamp it pretty heavily soon. For awhile I was chasing a Trey sound and got a pretty decent one at times, but now I'm chasing my own sound. Hence the upcoming revamp.

Vol > Keeley Crybaby > MXR Envelope Filter > TS-9DX (Keeley Mod) > TS-9DX (Keeley Mod) > Analogman BiComp > MXR 10-Band EQ > Analogman BiChorus > EQD Disaster Transport > TC Electronics Hall of Fame Reverb. Fender PT-100 Tuner splits out of the volume pedal. I also run a POG2 in front of everything sometimes.

Thanks! I've had all my comp post dirt since day 1 (Phish fan :)). Only a couple of exceptions, (DLS was best after). I think the Les Lius might sound good after, I need to experiment with that one.

Well my dirt section seems to be set in stone at this point - only thing that keeps moving is the pedal in loop 3 - it's my old RV3 now for faux Slow Gear noise stuff. The knobs are all screwed up, it's usually on mode 7 with the mix knob almost all the way up. I did have a Malekko Vibrato in that spot for a week, I just find I prefer using my Bigsby.

^Nice! I've been looking at the Plimsoul and the Blueprint. How do you like those?

I absolutely LOVE the Blueprint. The analog voicing on it is so rich, and incredibly smooth. And what a solidly built pedal. Everything Peter builds over at VFE is superb. Regarding the Plimsoul, I really like it a lot. I was hoping that it would really double as an OD and a distortion (as it is touted). As an OD is spot on; incredibly transparent, really nice...I think I might have to had a fuzz to get as broken up as I'd like. Not sure. But behind the Blueprint it really fills out the tone.

The Timeline definitely has lots of cool sounds in it... but like all of the big super delay pedals, they require a bit of extra time to really make the most of them. And some of the sounds are really cool, but I could never find ways to use them live. Or some of it was redundant... for example, I already can get some great shimmer sounds with my Blue Sky... so the Ice modes were redundant for my usage. Same with the Swell and Trem settings, since I used a volume pedal and tremolo pedal respectively. But if you're the kind of person that wants to draw new and crazy sounds out of a delay pedal, then it might be for you. For me, I realized that I just REALLY, REALLY like simple digital and analog delay tones.

And the final thing that sort of sealed the deal for me was the form factor of the Timeline.... I frequently would accidentally move some of the knobs with my foot or engage or disengage the switches on accident. With the DD20, it only switched on or off if I meant it to. Granted, the DD20 isn't perfect, but it does 4 presets very well, and the averaging of the tap tempo (and pitch-glitch-free tapping for that matter) makes it one of the easiest to use and inexpensive delays available.

It's basically an A/B box. I have all the modulation/pitch/reveb and the TimeFactor (the 4 loop switcher in the middle) after the Barber Half Gainer and Pharaoh in loop A, and I just have the Riot in loop B. The Echo Park is there at the end of the chain for the couple songs I have delay on throughout.

I just realized I never use the Riot with anything other than the Echo Park, so it makes switching very easy. On one song I'll have the PitchFactor and CS9 on with the Half Gainer and I just hit that one A/B switch to turn all those off and just have the Riot on, for instance.

The chain is in my sig, if that makes any sense ;)

is it possible to get good enough trem sounds from the timeline to kick off your trem pedal if you don't use it a lot? I never heard the trem setting on it.

Not exactly... it only does a delayed trem sound, which is hard to explain... not what you're looking for.

Depends on if you like Trem or not. I have a trem because I use it often. If you really wanted to eliminate Trem from you board you could probably cop a sound or two for specific songs.

The thing about the trem delay for the timeline is that it really just trems the delayed signal. So, if you wanted to you could set it up with full wet mix and 0ms delay with 1 repeat so you'd get pretty much latency free trem signal. However, this does not really lend itself if you wanted to include more repeats and such, unless you used another delay pedal, at which point you may as well include a decent trem on you board and forgo the extra effort.

Groups - the Loop Master box in the middle is a Clean/Dirty/Bypass switch that I use as a Rhythm/Lead/Clean selector.
Rhythm Loop: Zia Drive, Ecstasy, Corona Chorus
Lead Loop: Tube driver, Giggity, Ibanez DE-7
Clean: hit the "bypass" and it skips them all.

I also have the Pinnacle and EVH phaser in a bypass loop, and the Memory Man and Nova Delay in a loop, so whenever I'm not using them they are out of the path.

Church P&W band - I get to leave it set up 100% of the time - otherwise I'd DEFINITELY need to have wheels or something...

Been meaning to add my newly completed board for a couple of weeks. Finally got around to taking a few photos yesterday. Clearly this board hasn't seen the inside of a bar.....and sadly.....probably never will.

This is "Board #1". Helweg Pedalboards has another order from me in the queue for a cosmetic mirror image with pass through AC that will be just as loaded. Overkill? You betcha!!:p

How's the semaphore? Have you compared it to the Diamond trem?

Compared it to both Diamond and Cusack TAW. All excellent tremolos in both sound and features ... my absolute favorite "sounding" tremolo is the Red Witch one but does not have tap tempo which I can't do without so I had to chose one of these three ... Here's a few thoughts on each:

Semaphore:
- great sounding pedal, adds something to the overall sound, almost like a phasing quality which is very nice
- tap tempo works great, I get it right on every time
- quietest of the three (haven't A/B/C'd them to be honest but that was my impression while switching them in and out of my pedalboard)
- love the shape control
- easy to switch options on the fly, all controls are clearly labeled

Diamond:
- sounds as great as Semaphore, maybe a bit "thicker"
- don't know why but had a bit of trouble with tap-tempo, every now and then I would get the tempo a bit off ... user error maybe but with Semaphore it's always bang-on so I don't know if it has anything to do with how it sets the tempo internally
- rhythmic patterns are really great
- switching shapes on the fly is a bit tricky with the switch because you have to know in which order they come and which color of the light represents which ... fine at home or rehearsal but on the stage in mid-set after a few shots ... yeah ... a bit challenging
- also, side mounted jacks for me were an issue cuz I really needed to squeeze it on the pedalboard

TAW:
- cleanest sounding of the three ... Semaphore and Diamond seem to have a sound of their own, Cusack sounds very clean ... IMHO of course and not a bad thing either
- tons of options
- both Semaphore and Diamond have a bit of true-bypass "pop" when switched on, Cusack is almost completely pop-less when switching on/off
- just like with Diamond, setting the tempo for some reason was a bit off at times
- having the ability to set presets is great and easy to switch on the fly
- not having all controls labeled proves to be a bit challenging when you want to set things on the fly and can't pull the manual out to check, yes I can use my ears, it's just easier and quicker when having things clearly labeled

In the end, Semaphore is on the board for these reasons:
- great sound
- quiet
- accurate tap tempo
- easy to switch settings on the fly

Hope this helps ... :)

Great review. How do they compare size wise ?? Is the Semaphore the same size as the tap o whirl or bigger ??

Thanks in advance !!

Nice. It seems we have some similar tastes. I think I AM going to put $ down for the Lunar Module. Otherwise, I'll just wind up taking the amazeo to shows but not rehearsals and the like. It sounds too sweet - and the presets - to put off to the side. Maybe one day I"ll get a bigger board; but I"m trying not to.

Great -- the Grease box is seriously the best fuzz I've ever played. It's tight and aggressive with lots of mids but it's still really articulate and clear -- no mudd or flubb. It's going on a mini board for when I want to just rawk! :rockin

Tell me about the NT Chroma chorus.

I really like it. It's a different sounding chorus than say an Analogman Clone. It adds a nice sparkle to your cleans. I'm not a heavy chorus user, so I'm probably not the best person to do an in depth comparison to others on the market. It does sound much better in person than the few YouTube demos I saw on it. I bought it based on how much I love the Wet Reverb. I leave the Chroma set to a nice subtle setting to add a little pop to arpeggiated clean sections.

The great thing is that if you get it and aren't thrilled you can just use the software update to turn it into a Stereo Wet Reverb. I can't wait to see what else Neunaber releases!

The Wren and Cuff is a fantastic Muff clone. I love it. I'm looking forward to picking up the Rams Head clone they are releasing.

The Wet is my favorite verb pedal. It beat out a Space, BSR and a HoF. All were great verbs in their own way, but for what I do I prefer the Wet.

@Stu/Fat Sound: I nearly fell off my chair in a swoon. That is killer, what an array of fuzz/muffs. So much fun to be had there man.....

;-) I imagine most players would view having all three of Matt's Muff pedals on one board as extreme overkill.....but what started off as an evaluation to figure out which one of the three I found myself stepping on the most, simply turned into an unwillingness to pull any of them off! They really are pretty unique from one another. Besides, I've absolutely become a collect-the-whole-set guy when it comes to W&C.

And yesterday I found out that Matt is working on his version of the Ram's Head (see pre-release spy photo below) so I may have to rework the entire board soon...... ;-)

It's been absolutely fantastic having so many fuzz choices on one board! All of the 60's and early-70's tones that made me pick up a guitar in the first place are on this board.

The only thing that will be even better is when I get board #2 built out with MKII and III Tone Bender variants, a Baldwin Burns Buzzaround copy and a few other choice pedals. Now *that* will be overkill!!

I'm excited to get stage 2 completed, but the actual building process is a huge amount of the fun so I'm going to go slow and enjoy the process.....all over again!

Thanks DanHorse!

Nice board! What did you get the Your Face spec'd out to? I'd assume something non-Muff-based, since you already have three flavors of that...

Matt's various Your Face models, both pre-spec'd/stock and custom ordered, are always Fuzz Face based rather than Muff based. The Your Face program allows you to choose your preferred caps, transistors, resistors as well as whether the "You Knob" is a low cut (like mine) or a Bias Control.

This one is a stock "Matt's Choice" version (NOS Germanium transistors, Carbon Comp resistors, Electrolytic Mullard Tropical Fish caps), but I also have his 60's Classic which only varies from the Matt's Choice via the capacitors which are "OG" Tropical Fish Metal Film. I love 'em both equally with the Matt's Choice being slightly more refined and the Classic being a bit looser and a bit more true to the Woodstock-era Hendrix tones.

I prefer having the "You Knob" control spec'd as a low cut because with full bass response dialed-in I have a truly vintage sounding fuzz that's HUGE and a bit loose, but if I want a tighter, more Cliff's of Dover intro type of smooth woodiness I can roll the bass off a bit and tighten things up. It's a very cool pedal. Having the "You Knob" spec'd as a bias control would probably be the way to go for anyone who plays in varying climates......but that's no longer me.

The FRV-1 is a great reverb, and though Octron agrees, he's very selfish sometimes, and he may get nasty with you until he gets his way. Maybe your Octron is easy going, but mine sabotages my sound if he doesn't get my signal's undivided attention. I'd leave him but.... I'm scared of what he might do:worried

I love how tight and neat some of these boards are, but how do some of you without bypass strips keep from hitting more than one pedal at once?
My board is kind of spread out (see post #799) partially because of the larger Amphenol plugs on some of my patch cables, but also because of my big ol' feet - I've tried moving things in tighter and keep accidentally hitting pedals that I don't mean to, so I have to spread things back out.
Do ya'll wear pointy shoes or what? :huh

I'm always jealous of you guys with your neat boards, matching cables...everything nice and neat. I try to do that but it never stays that way for very long. The most organized cable thing I have is the "red" George L goes to the tuner.

Finally stopped buying pedals long enough to buy a frackin' board. PT-1HC

I've got a bunch of boxes to knock off my list and then it'll get wired up and we'll see what we've got! The only bright-side to taking a hiatus from music to concentrate on my new job/finishing college has been the time I've been afforded to sort out my gear. I'm not much of a buy/sell/trade guy, more of a buy once buy right guy, so lets hope this is it haha.

Definitely not. I just photoshopped the old art and knobs onto the new Klon box. It's just a goof - though I probably will paint my new one (when it comes out and I can get one) to mimic the old one like this. I miss my old gold Klon dearly.

Sure, this is what I used:
NEUTRIK NJ 3FP6C-B - jacks
NEUTRIK SCDP-0 - rubber washers under jacks
NEUTRIK SCDR - rubber tubes on the inside.

I had the holes cut in a shop that does all kinds of metal work located in my neighbourhood. It was kind of pricey but they did a great job and it saved me a lot of work.
All cables are Evidence Audio Monorail, plugs are Switchcraft 228 and 380.

I don't believe they make mono locking jacks. It's as you said, just a matter of wiring it up as a mono port.

The route 66 has been my main dist for the last one year. I really like it, the notes are really clear even with the gain on. I have the bass boost off (cause I use a gibson semi hollow) Have the vol around 12, gain around 12.30 and tone around 10. Add some reverb and have big sounding chords. The compressor side is nice too. I use to have timmy and route 66 but I added the zvex and musket recently. So I will probably re eq the 4 pedals together now.

It's a Lovekraft Mojo Drive. Best 'Marshall in a box' I've ever come across. It's also got a 18db boost and a modded TS9 setting as well. Been on my board for 6 years now.

I use the Eventide for dedicated digital delays (rhythmic stuff like U2). The Timeline gets used for everything else. Sometimes they get used together. When the Timeline update comes out, I may replace my TF with a 2nd Timeline.

Thanks...it's not "done", but I really like where it is at this point.

Meant to get some diverse tones, but do so in a very analog/organic way...if that makes sense. The music isn't complicated, but as the band stretches out, this board gives me some freedom. I posted my mini-board in the "mini" thread...that gets me there with greater simplicity.

Whats the Telenordia with 4 knobs?

It's a Tortenmann TA-28...it's a TA-24 Treble Booster w/ a 4th knob (output control) and push/pull "clip" knob adding an OD. Cool, just getting used to it...been talking to Stephan as he recently fixed one of my TA-100s and he offered me this one. Cool and versatile boost/TB...

Awesome board! I'd love to give that a spin! What's the case?

It's a PT-2. The case is a Brady case...but since I had to get it a little larger to accommodate my homemade power cord (basically took 2 PP2+ and plugged it into a 3 connector underneath which runs to one thicker cord), the measurements were a little off. Then, took the board to Philly cases and had them glue in some more foam to make the board fit more snug). Now, it's great...love the ability to drop it down, take off the hard top and just have one cord to plug in. Plus, the cord is 25 ft. so never have to worry about those short PP2 power cords!

Very interesting.

Phew, this setup takes the long way round but it allows me to run the Fuzz Face in two different ways through two different amps, one with the TZF effect, so I have just about all my favourite sounds covered :)

This is prolly my favorite pedal board I've seen FX-wide. Once your jr comes in you have about every delay covered. :)

how do you like the eventide and the strymon together? overkill?

A lot actually. I use the TF mostly for dedicated rhythm type delay, so when that gets coupled with a very subtle analog, tape or ice setting from the Timeline, it really fills things out. I also like to use the freeze setting on the TF to get a drone sound when I'm doing more ambient type stuff. This way it still gives me another delay to use beyond that.

This board has it going on. How are you liking the Fuzz Fight? What guitars/amps are you using with it? Is there anything about it you wish were different (even if you have to get real nit picky)?

Zounds Perspex

Thanks, dudes!

Fuzz Fight is way cool - a really nasty, mean-sounding, cutting fuzz.
It's a Mosrite Fuzzrite clone, in case you didn't know.
I have quite a few cool fuzzes, but what I dig about the Fuzz Fight
is that my favorite setting for it alone is the same as with it stacked with the Klon-
almost all my other fuzzes, I have to tweak a bit to stack just the way I like.
For live use, I like to mainly set and forget.
It's not hugely versatile, but it works for me.

I'm mainly using Jazzmasters and blackface Fender amps,
playing sort of Minutemen-inspired stuff with some surf licks and
some big wall-of-sound things too.

can someone point me to a reseller in Europe for GLS "pancake" plugs ?

Thanks for any advice on this.

You should consider getting Switchcraft 228 pancake style plugs. These are widly available in Europe. I also think that they are of higher quality.

I recently contacted Orange County Speaker (http://www.speakerrepair.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=genem&Product_Code=32-232x20&Category_Code=PandJ-allplugs) for the same reason. As long as you order enough plugs (say 20 or so) it still works out much cheaper than buying GLS or Switchcraft pancake plugs in Europe, even taking into account $20 for shipping from the US and any import duty/tax.

Sometimes I stack the boosters, depends on how I use them for a given setup. Normally, I run the EP Booster on all the time and will either use the SDD as a traditional volume boost, tone shaping boost, or will use it to drive my amp.

The EP adds a kind of 'sparkle', at least to my ear and in my setup where as the SDD adds a smoothing and very subtle amount of compression to my ear. I haven't played the SHO and think both boost are different from the SHO, at least from what I know.

It gets used in a studio setting most of the time, so it's not a big deal. It feels great though and, to my ear, doesn't suck tone, so it's worth it.

Abandoned, dig the board man, looks great!

Mine is also nearing completion! Just waiting on my McSpunckle Team Tesla power supply (5 isolated outputs each with 150 mA in a 1590a enclosure!) so I can power everything. Also thinking about dropping some black carpet down on the board so as to make it 'appear' less messy :p

Also considering trying to squeeze a Sonic Crayon Hollow Earth on there once the new batch is released.
