I got burned out on chorus effects from the 80's and 90's... especially with some of the really sterile digital effects at the time. But I do hear some choruses that sounds lush and actually good. What pedal(s) would you recommend?
Thanks

Just picked up an MXR Analog Chorus. For the price, very nice. Warm, goes from subtle to crazy. Doesn't mess with tone.

too much tweekin around for me personally plus that damn LED light is giving me a seizure. Im more of a simple, straight to the point guy. Thats why I have an mxr micro chorus. One knob only for speed and thats it.

Analogman chorus, it is seriously the lushest chorus around.

Tortuga Martini would be my choice for later this year. Check out the demo on their site.
As with most types of pedals, a lot depends on how much control you want - you can find chorus pedals with anywhere from one to six (or more) knobs.

After being a long-time analog chorus purist, I have to admit the Boss CE-20 Chorus Ensemble is the best one I've ever used. It does the CE-1 thing, standard Boss chorus, as well as the Boss Dimension. Not to mention, it works very well with distortion/OD pedals in front of it.
Just my $.02

If your on the fence about chorus and don't want to spend a fortune go with the MXR Micro Chorus. Its nice and warm and all the settings sound good. It does its job.
But If you want more control over it go some were else.

I recently went on a huge chorus binge.
I think my favorite tones came from the Fulltone Choralflange (the high end is incredible but it's still really thick)
In the end I kept the Analogman Mini Chorus and sold the others
It's stupid how good it is, it sounds amazing in every position, and there's so much less noise than any other chorus I tried.

I just put a TC Corona Chorus on my board. Does the subtle-thing pretty well without sounding metallic.
It knocked off my Analogman Clone Chorus, which is THE lushest chorus ever, IMO. BUT, I've been using it for almost 10 years and it was time for a change.

Forget digital. Get an analog chorus for old school warmth.

Do you want one chorus sound, or something with more than one sound?
If you want something with multiple sounds, I think the Hardwire is good (although it does convert the entire signal to digital, which is why I ended up selling it...if not for that, it would likely still be on my board).
I currently use an Analogman BiChorus and a Hartman Flanger for chorus sounds (unfortunately, neither are inexpensive...).
The Analogman is very lush, and I like being able to set one side for a slower rate with greater depth, and the other side to do kind of a fast leslie thing, with faster rate and less depth.
I like the Hartman because it sounds very familiar to me, with respect to the kind of music I like...yes, it is a flanger, but it does a great chorus-type sound.
I recently tried the Wampler chorus in a store...I nearly bought it, but for me, I liked the Analogman one better....I could see some circumstances where the Wampler would be better...good thing I had a strict budget going in or I would have walked out with both...
Regardless...there are lots of nice choruses out there that don't sound cold. I am sure you will get lots of recommendations.

+1 on the Analogman - terrific pedal. Polychorus is awesome too, but weird.

TC Corona is probably the 8th chorus I've ever bought.
It's the only one I've ever kept.

And another +1 for Analogman...

Is the analogman mini chorus available with the deep switch AND the external mix knob?

I think it depends on the type of chorus you like.
Thick Lush and chewy= Retro-Sonic which is based off of the Boss CE1. This is a thick chorus with a lot of character.
Phasey type of chorus=EHX Clone Chorus, or the Analogman which is based off of it, but with some noticeable improvements.
More subtle transparent chorus=The TC Electronic SCF, or the Jacques Meistersinger. This is the category of chorus I most prefer. The Meistersinger is a really good chorus for very little coin. And probably the most transparent of them all the Boss DC2, or especially DC3.
Shimmery Chorus=Boss Ce5 (analog version) Boss Ce2, Boss Ch1 (analog Version) all do this very well.
I like subtle effects, so my favorites have been the Boss Ce2, Meistersinger, TC SCF, and the Boss DC3.

I have a Boss DC2 (Dimension C) and swear by the sound and simplicity.

The older version H2O Liquid Chorus & Echo (with plain graphics) is a really nice chorus pedal that also has echo. It splits to two outputs (wet & dry). It has a Delay Time control which is very handy. Unfortunately it doesn't have a Blend/Mix control, but otherwise is great. I've gone through a few other choruses and still keep this one.
You could also try the Neunaber Chroma. They have a stereo version of it too now. It's a different type- basically a micro-pitch shifter which splits your signal into three, then offsets the pitch of the 'outer' signals to make your signal sound wide. Also has a Mix control. Very handy if you want a chorusey sound without any wobbling.
