Happy New Year All! I am a frequent lurker but rare poster. My question concerns how Alex Lifeson used Hiwatts and Marshall Club and Country amps during the Moving Pictures/Exit Stage Left era. If you watch the Exit
Stage Left dvd you can see clearly he has Hiwatt heads (sans logo) and the Club and Country Marshall combos on the stage behind him. Does anyone have any information about how Alex used both amps? Were both amps used simultaneously? Was the Hiwatt set to clean and Marshall set to
dirty and he switched between them (or vice versa)? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! This has been a burning question for some time. Thanks again!

ultra final bump lol. Anyone else :-)
I don't know, but I usually can find that kind of info by scouring these 2 sites:

http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/rush-a-brief-history-of-time.php
Maybe you'll have some luck.

7 years and only a few posts :omg That's showing restraint! You must be the oldest "new member" On here.
If you haven't seen this article ...scan thru it. Goes thru each tours rig:

only see him with hughes and kettners now
Might also want to try asking at www.therushforum.com. Some of the people there are into gear and technical stuff so you may get lucky with your question there. I scanned a couple of articles but didn't find an answer to your specific question.

Thanks everyone! I don't acquire new gear at the rate some of my TGPers, so I just scour posts. I would love love to have an old Hiwatt, Germino and Fender Super Reverb for starters but debt, upcoming marriage ceremony and life have prevented me from acting on latent GAS

Lifeson's current rig, they're using no live cabs onstage, they're using H&K's & Palmers right into the house, so much for the Marshall legacy.
I've never heard Alex sound bad in 30 years, very solid player.:munch
