Just purchased a fender 75 off this board and when I got it, put in tubes and cranked it up, the volume was really low with a buzzing sound on what should be a pristine clean channel.
I should have stoped there.
I pluged in another set of known working power tubes I had lying around.
Only 1 of them was glowing.
Any ideas?
If I happened to smell something getting hot, am I out a PT?
damn, thats the last amp I buy sight unseen. The guy said it worked fine.

Any advice is welcomed.

that could be anything from a bad solder joint to a bad component to a bad tube socket with a lot of things in between. if you're not experienced in working on them i'd suggest you take it to a qualified tech and not take a chance on doing further damage.

sorry about your negative experience but taking the high road i'd have to say that a lot of things can be damaged during shipping so the guy you bought it from might not be at fault.

oops,
I plugged a power tube in incorrectly.
Plugged it in and it worked just fine.
Thank god I didn't fry anything.
In fact it works beautiful.
THe seller was incredibly helpful with my question.
He diagnosed the mis-inserted power tube first thing.

Thanks guys.
