Hey!
Just thought I'd share this clip of this profile (I didn't do it myself):

It sounds like:

Added a tubescreamer where it sounds distorted :D Also some Compressor (from KPA).

Sounds great, particularly around 2:30ish.
I have a '67 Vibrolux Reverb and this isn't that far off of what it sounds. To get mine that clean, I'd have to be playing it with the volume on about 3 or 3.5. I'd love to hear how it sounds cranked to 7 or 8!

No, I was just joking, :) because of the mic stand he's using on the clip.. I don't like every KPA clip I've heard but find nothing wrong with this one, it's a very good sound in my opinion..

I just hope you used Brawny for the paper towel roll. Everyone knows Brawny has the best tone!

Hi,
I tried this profile this evening.
Added some compression inside the amp and decreased the amp definition a notch and got myself a killer funk sound. Almost wore my knees out when playing. :D

Sounds very good, but no wonder with that fancy mic stand. ;)
I thought the bottom end sounded a little light so out of curiosity I just compared it to Felken's Vibrolux clip on the Axe II and the bottom end on his did sound fuller.
With that said, the KPA clip sounded more like an actual Fender combo (minus some bottom) but I prefered the fullness of Felken's clip. I wonder if his use of a 4x10 IR was a significant part of the difference. :dunno

Maybe it could use some low and then again maybe not. It sounds great as is and would sit nicely in a mix.
Certainly nothing that couldn't be adjusted to taste or is fundamentally lacking IMHO

I have a real Vibrolux here and to me, Felkins clip sounds too congested in the mids to me.. .The lower mids were a bit much for a real blackface sound...
Now that is just my ear and personal preference as well mind you.

I'm detecting a trend here...
KPA User: Hey, check out this new sound clip I just did.
Average Joe: Hey, that sounds awesome!
Axe User: It doesn't have any bottom end.

Agreed. I actually gave the tone a whack and a with a 1x12 cab it came in much closer. The bassman cab he used isn't a cab you normally associate with that sound.

I suspected the cab had something to do with it.

:) :) :)Agreed, and there's probably a reason for it.
I also prefer the bottom end of a Super Reverb to a Vibrolux Reverb or Deluxe Reverb (I have all three). I play through the Super and the other two are gathering dust. Again, personal preference.
I also agree that the KPA clip would sit well in the mix.
I'm not saying one is better than the other just which I prefer. If everybody liked one better than the other I'd be shocked.
But with all of that said, while the KPA sounded more like a Fender combo overall I think it did have less bottom than an actual Vibrolux Reverb, not just that Axe clip, and noticed it immediately. That's why I went back to check the other clip; to see if I was just imagining it or not.
In this case, I prefer the KPA sound as it sounds a little more real to me. The Axe clip sounded a little muffled, but the Axe has such deep editing capabilities that it could likely be dialed in to taste.

For grunt, I will use my Showman. For the sweeter stuff, I much prefer my Vibrolux.

The 1x12 black with no mic. When I saw I was in the neighborhood somewhat I stopped. Most of my cleans are based on the fatter side.

I had much low-end dialed out (bass on -3.2 I think) - I prefer guitar tones without much low end - they sit better in the mix and sound better with the band.
I can record one more clip with more bass if requested?

plenty of bass for that amp. sounds just like a vibro lx.
add bass and your muddy it up. sounds fin on my monitors or mdr7506 cans.

Blackface Fender amps are my favorite... and are so much harder to get right than I think many people may believe. They're not just any old clean sound. Lots of nuances that make it what it is and I hear lots of those in this clip. You can't fake that stuff... it's there as the foundation of the sound or it ain't. Brighter, duller, more bass, less bass... whatever each person prefers but you need the basic sound there first.
This is pretty darned impressive to me. This has THAT sound of a vintage Fender amp. Big time. Yup, I'd like more bass for my taste but see that's not what you like.
The sound and dynamics of this clip are great. By the way, I know everyone says the HD 500 is an amazing value... which I figure it is, but I can't get ANYWHERE near this particular sound out of one (and this is my favorite sound). It just doesn't do what I'm hearing in this clip. I don't believe tweaking it will get me here either (I've tweaked, it's missing the core elements of blackface Fender sound).
This patch appears modeled with a SM57... using a paper towel roll as a mic stand... umm... ok... so it doesn't seem a lot went into making this GREAT sound and that it didn't take much tweaking (please correct me if I'm wrong) to arrive here. Impressive.
Since the very first Tom Wendt video that I saw, I've heard that "thing"... that I hear again now. Believe it was some type of Fender amp though I don't remember which anymore. Granted, I don't even like his playing... but that dynamic, touch sensitive thing, with the high end not getting weird when you hit the string harder... that was there for me and I've been intrigued every since.
There has to be enough people like me out there hearing the KPA Fender impersonation here that realize how cool it is to get pretty close to a signature blackface Fender sound in modeling/profiling land.
Axe disclaimer... maybe it does this already, I don't own an Axe and have actually only heard one or two Axe FENDER clips that I've liked from it and were impressed by. I don't remember being this impressed though.
