Paul seems to have a Stan Laurel thing going on ...

Guess I didn't quite realize how long they'd been together before Ringo came along. Cool pic.

And look, Paul was already left handed!
Cool pic.
They already have the coat and tie thing too. Actually, Ringo is in the picture but you can just see his hand holding the beer.

Not in 1957. Ringo didn't meet them until '60 in Hamburg.

Stew, you just can't create a ripple in the Fab Force.
Unless you listen to the record backwards.
It's Time!

With those guitars they look more like a serious jazz trio than a wacky skiffle band. :D

Anyone know what kinda axe George is holding? It's not a Gibson is it?

That is so cool. Imagine being a boy or young teen wanting to be in a band and play music and not realizing the incredible creative collective genius that will forever change the world of music.
Mindblowing.

Beatles unplugged!
I especially dig George's archtop. Probably not a Gibson, as those were prohibitively expensive in England at the time. I was thinking maybe
Hofner, but the headstock seems a little plain for that.
Guitar detectives, get on the case! (not the guitar case itself, of course, since that might damage it ).

That was my thought too, Jim. So much on the horizon and they don't even have a clue yet!

It's not Pete Best, Stu Sutcliffe or Tommy Moore. My guess is he was looking to pick up a cast off!

I don't know, Paul's tie is loosened. :-) Combine that with their girl like long hair, in 1957 they might as well have been considered a bunch of freeloading hoodlums. :-)

Kind of explains why they were utterly sick of each other by 1970.
Looks like Paul's D string is wound backwards around the peg!
...agreed, very cool pic. :)

The Nutty Professor checking out the band.
SKIFFLE!
I - born in '72 - to a dad who enjoyed the beatles, used to say, "nuh-aaahh" when he'd say the beatles only knew a few chords when they started. I mean, my dad knew at least 7 and he wasn't even famous, right??? That photo's a full few years before they came out as the beatles.

I was discussing this very photo recently. If I recall correctly, it was taken at George's house after one of his brothers got married. The gentleman holding the Guiness is likely Harrison family.
