My bandmate has one--60-watt combo I believe. When he showed up with it that first day, I was like wtf is this? Very skeptical. But after many many gigs alongside him, I'm convinced that the thing sound awesome. Keeps up with my Mesa and Marshall rigs no problem. The only problem is sometimes at outdoor gigs in the summer, the footswitch (i.e. the brain of the whole thing) craps out. It overheats or something and is rendered useless. For this reason alone I could never get one for myself. But if you're a home player or play in very controlled environments, it could be fine, but it's a risk I'm not willing to take. (Might just be his specific unit, of course.) But the tone is great.

If you want to hear it in action, check these (http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/3540930) out. He's in the right channel. (I'm in the left with a Mesa Mark V.)

They have had glitch issues from the start. Many have been returned. Look up a few Vyper threads.. There's lots of info here

Had a vypyr 15 that lasted 15 mins. Maybe that's why they called it 15.

I think they are great bang for buck, I've had a 30 watt for 3 years, only an occasional false boot, mine likes the guitar cable plugged in before poweron

Analog amp modeling I think sounded fatter than Line6 spider 4 tones, you can see at a glance where your amp settings really are, Spider 4 had it on effects and all a line 6 product comes with, like patch sharing, good editor, etc

Funny, Peavey has just done some new Vypyr demos with Tom Allen, also check out older Mat Arp demos on their website

Truth be told, Matthias Arp could sell me a used shoebox for a tube guitar amp no problem. That man is pure gold.

I got a 15 watt Vypyr a while back new for $99. Compared to what you got for $99 when I was a kid, I'd say it's pretty darn good.
