Liked it as much as you can understand sound at NAMM playing through someone else' ls guitar and amp (a Naylor amp and Gibson looked like Historic Red SG with lyre Vibrola). It is definely organic.Builder said the old one was a nightmre to build. Personally, I liked him, he seemed very sensitive, even upset) to people's concerns/crticisms and anger over production cost, past prblems, etc. I have found that many of the best buiders are not great at meeting deadlines dealing with things other than building a great product. Obviously, if you prefer Boss or Dunlop you can usually get the product quicker. He was not sure on price but it will likely be cheaper than an original, so I'll order one. I have no affiliation with KLON. I simplyhave the guy's card.

Keep on pickin',

thanks for the post will! have you seen how the majority of TGP are complaining about it being housed in a hammond style box? EVERY other pedal in that box is a non-issue...but the klon babies and whiners are all upset over it. that box was never an issue on every other boutique pedal out there, but for the klon?! OH NO!

to all the "new klon" bashers: if you dont like it, dont buy it...just complain on the internet about how it doesnt meet your standards!

If it's affordable and available for the working musician, it will sell, despite what a few on a forum may believe.

Some of the negative posts about the new Klon have really showed some true colors.... Narcissists with entitlement complexes...

I hope Bill sells tens of thousands of Klons to players that will appreciate them.... like me

I played yesterday at the NAMM show yesterday. It's a somewhat noisey environment and I didn't have an old one to a/b it with, but I will say 1) Bill Finnegan is a super nice guy and great to talk to 2) the pedal sounds great (it sounds, well, like the Klon I already have)from what I can tell and 3) the whole Klon buffer vs. true bypass is proved a joke by this pedal as Bill and I a/b'd the pedal with the buffer in and out (this new version has a switch to turn the buffer on or have it bypass without the buffer) and the buffer in the Klon definitely improved the bypass tone relative to true bypass. 90% of my pedals are true bypass, yet I've always liked the buffer in my Klon. I know a lot of guys are hardcore true bypass guys. When you actually get to hear how good the buffer circuit in the Klon is (with teh switch on the new one), you will most likely want to leave it on all the time. I think Bill will do great with this pedal and he deserves it. He worked hard developing the original and hard developing this follow up. I'll always have a Klon since I appreciate what the pedal does. I have an origional TS-808, Tim, etc.. but the Klon will always be a must have in my OD arsenal and the new version is worthy of the Klon name and cache.

I always thought the original was clunky and ugly - then I heard it and it looked alot better.

Hi to Sunsetamps.
PS: my Blues Buddies realized the Ric Blueburst is an excellent guitar for setting in with my adopted nephews bluesband. Tuned before the gig never had to retune. the strings bend like it had big frets, even though they are micro small.

I don't have a klon or even play "overdrive", but i keep up with the threads because they are interesting to observe human behavior and so forth. I am All for function over fashion, but i definitely believe a large part of the original pedal's success ( besides it's "sonic bliss" ) was the design and I was expecting a new unique design for the New klon. Then the though occured to me, maybe he is throwing everyone off! He may have just housed the promo in a standard hammond box to throw every off because he knew they would notice that ( snobs ) and therefore when his sleek new design comes out, there will be twice the WOW/APPLAUSE because your expectations were lowered and then the hype will be threefold. He might just a marketing genius with a "decent" pedal design.
my humble two cents. =)

p.s. - I'm a cynic, don't take me too seriously. =)

He stated when the original was discontinued it would be available in a more common die cast aluminum box.

Bravo to anything he does to make the pedal more available and cheaper.

I'd like to see Bill's Klon as a parallel to Paul's Tim/Timmy - an excellent overdrive/boost at an equally excellent price.

Screw the hype. :stir

Predictions on original Klon pricing on eBay after the new release?

Could go both ways. The new version could be so spot on that the original will only be sought after for collect-ability. Or, the new iterations might not 'have the vibe' making the older version that much MORE desirable. I have noticed an uptick in Klon availability on ebay since his announcement in December. Still priced ridiculously at around $1500.

I'll be quiet content with my JHS Klone when it arrives. Plus it will be puuurty!
