I've tried 2 mics so far, the Shure KSMS 44a and the AKG C414. The Shure KSM44a sounds better on my vocals.
What other mics should I look into if the Shure KSM44a works well?
Under $1500 please.

I owned the KSM44. I now own this. To my ears, this blew the KSM44 away.

Why not use the KSM44 if it sounds good on your voice?
In my experience the KSM is a fairly dark mic compared to other popular mics in the price rage (or above). It's pretty good at taming some high end sibilant response.
If you need something darker but still smooth, the only other mic that comes to mind is the Shure SM7.

KSM 32 is a single diaphragm mic-not very good for close mic'ed vocals-very prone to pops on plosives.
In the same price range as the KSM44a is the Bock Audio 195 (also an FET mic).
Look at vintageking.com to check out other large diaphragm mics in your price range.
Talk to the sales staff about what you are looking for.

A local paper here in town just did an interview from one of the engineers from this company. They certainly are getting rave reviews. I've used both the KSM and AKG and had good results. However, this one here looks very interesting.

I'm telling you, I've owned many mics in this range and some quite a bit more expensive. I think each individual voice is different and won't sound great on every mic. This one really worked well for me. Too many have too harsh highs and this one is just perfect. I had the KSM 44, KSM 32 (which i preferred over the 44), Sound Deluxe U195 (which is the same mic as the Bock being mentioned above), Mojave 200, Pearlman TLM 1, AKG 414, Rode NTK. I'm sure a few others I'm forgetting. I still own the Pearlman, the Rode, a KSM 32 and the AKG
The Miktek was the best and by a long ways. Next on my list is their tube mic.
