I have a 65 strat with a neck so thin it's scary, and Im just so used to it that I set out on a quest to find a Les Paul that was close in profile to the strat, and let me tell ya... it was Hard finding a super thin profile Les Paul (or even a clone)
But I did..right here on TGP about a year ago. (Bell Custom Guitars)
So fella's. does anyone here like a super thin neck profile? Just wondering..
ok, so here's mine :p

I don't know how thin you're talking but my LP has a pretty flat and thin 60's neck. Which is odd because most guitars I like have HUGE necks including my Strat and every other Les Paul I've liked. But I guess I'm not totally a fan of the Les Paul ergonomically so the neck shape makes up for the weight and lack of upper fret access. I just wish it was bit rounder. I also think big necks is a passing trend. Some people genuinely do enjoy them but the fact that it seems like all anybody wants is fat necks other than the shredders seems odd to me. I mean, Hendrix didn't play huge necks... In fact, Clapton loved his LP BECAUSE of its skinny neck.

Yup, Prefer 60's neck over EJ strat and DGT

The 60's Slim neck on my 03' LP Standard is about a thick as I'm happy to go! I say this as a player of a slim 9' radius-C shaped Strat, 10' Tele and a reasonably svelt 335. I dont like too skinny neck's, but I have to concede somethings to my smallish hands.
I play a FT ESP Eclipse Standard for that reason. Baseball necks have good tone but the playability lacks for me. I like ebony boards too. If I ever get a Gibson Historic again it will have to be a G0.

I love the Gibson 60'sneck profile. I just bought a new Gibson LP Special Pro which is a GC exclusive model. They come in two models. The sunburst finish has a 50's neck and the wine red version has the 60's neck. I'm not shitting you I played the wine red one at my local GC for 45 minutes one day. I couldn't leave without it. It may have the most perfect neck I have ever played. Friggin perfect!!!

Even the slim 60's is a little on the big side for me. I play the thinnest necks ever (from all I've played), Fender HM Strats, and i want a les paul or knock-off so bad, but none are even close to comfortable, hell even my tele and normal strat necks are a little big...guess that happens when you've played the same guitar for 18 years, and it's that slim of a neck.

I like really fat necks. Thin necks make my forearm cramp.

Have you tried any of the Les Paul Classic Premium Plus models from the mid 90's? Thinnest Gibson neck I've ever played.

I don't like ridiculous baseball-bat necks but something doesn't feel right when the neck is too skinny on a LP.

A LP collector who prefers thinner necks?
This goes against forum modus operandi kudos to you for standing against the bs majority consensus of TGP. :drink

Same here, I much prefer the slim profile necks. One of the main reasons, I have gone through so many LP guitars.

I like pretty much any neck except baseball bat size. I dig PRS wide fat, Gibson 50s, Fenders Modern C, Fenders medium V, etc. But my favorite neck is the Gibson Les Paul 60s neck profile. It's not too thin but is a faster playing neck than most. I really dig em...

While I like and have no problem with a thinner neck profile as with my 2011 Gibby Angus Young "BIB" SG I also LOVE the 50's profile on my 2008 LP Studio.
I also really like Gibsons R9 profile so I'm pretty comfortable on the fatter side too. On the other hand I find their R8 profile much too fat so there is a limit for me
It seems I need a variety of necks sizes to change it up a bit from time to time as one profile all the time ends up feeling stale after a while.

No Neck is also meant to represent a Fat neck like a Nocaster.

Seeing as I came up in the early-70s when Gibsons had thinner necks, I prefer a neck like that, so the LP Classic is just about right.
I like the late-50s V-neck or early-60s C-neck on Fenders, too.

No Neck is also meant to represent a Fat neck like a Nocaster.
Popped in to say this, it's modern Fender vernacular for a "Nocaster-like" (ie. very fat) neck.

My fingers are on the shorter side, that's why I have a razor thin Classic and a R0. I can go bigger, to a smaller R9, but can't handle the fat LPs. Used to own an amazing sounding 68 RI LPC, but finally accepted that the neck was just too big for my needs.

The Bell Custom LPC has a neck so thin I worry that it will someday just snap off.. crazy love it though.

I gotta have a thin neck. I don't get the TGP love for these huge, fat telephone pole necks. People must have hulk hands or something, because I can't play on them at all.
At least I don't have to dream about owning a '58 Burst, because I wouldn't be able to play the thing.
i'm generally ok with either the thinner or thicker gibson neck carves. what i can't do are narrow necks like the Rickenbackers. my #1 gigging LP has a 60s neck, but i have also been known to gig a R7 (FAT neck) and R8.
thinnest gibson neck i ever played was on a '73 LPC. it felt like i was playing an Ibanez Wizard neck- hand-crampingly thin. it was a shame i had to get rid of it because i loved the guitar otherwise, but couldn't get past the thin neck.

The classic is the best feeling production model Gibson for me(not previous crazy thin preferences from before). Only LP I've ever picked up and gone....I could buy this guitar if I could afford it, haha. Saving up now for one to be my first LP.
Too bad i couldn't find one when i had the money a few years ago to buy an LP...bought a Jeep instead when i couldn't find an LP that was suitable, and had never played a classic before then, damn

A great compromise is an R0 version 2. More rounded like a 59 but slightly thinner.
I prefer the 60s neck to baseball bats that are on the Historics. The neck size is one of the big factors that has kept me fron buying one. I've played several actual 50s Les Pauls, and none of them had a neck as big as the reissues.

Prefer the feel of 60s thin, prefer the sound of the fat neck.

My Vintage V100 has a slim neck. I like it.
The (now vintage) Kasuga LP Custom I played for 20 years has a really fat neck. I like that too. :bonk

Count me as a fan. It took a long time to find a Les Paul I liked due to the neck size.
I think the preference for thick necks around here comes from what people are playing. Thick necks are great if you're doing a lot of rhythm playing or you want to hook your thumb over the top and get some leverage when bending necks. It becomes a hinderance once you move your thumb to the back of the neck and you want to do a five finger streatch, like when you play the first three notes on the major scale. It is possible to get used to a thinner neck and adjust your playing where everything feels comfortable.

Lestercollecter, the body of that LP has a heluva lot of figuring - is that really mahogany??

One of my R0s has this. However, I think this is only available on the 50th Anniversary offerings.

Can never have enough R0s! Especially when compared to the venerable R9.

My first "real" electric is an AVRI 57 Strat from the late 80's/early 90's with a very thin neck which I absolutely love. As a result, I also really like the 60's carve neck on my LP 60's Tribute.
I understand different people like different things, but I don't personally understand how people say a fatter neck is easier to play or less fatiguing. Stretching my fingers for a wider neck is much more difficult for me. Give me the thiner neck any day.
