Awesome album... I was 6 or 7 when this came out and my dad was a big fan so it was on quite a lot. Funny thing is that he mainly loved 60s groups like the Byrds, Mamas & Papas, Beatles, Lovin' Spoonful, etc. but somehow Folsom Prison was in the mix. Just goes to show how big The Man in Black really was.

There is a special edition version of this that contains the whole concert. Very cool!

I don't know if it's still on the current releases, but I always loved the in-between parts where you'd here prisoners being paged for visitors. Reminds you what's actually going on.

I wonder if Van Halen would have played the same venue.

Right? Classic...
It amazes me how right in the middle of casting this gut-wrenching spell in "Long Black Veil", he starts cracking up over something one of the prisoners did, then gets right back on it like nothing happened

My aunt and uncle almost split up due to his love for Johnny. He wanted to name their son Johnny Cash. She wasn't gonna have any part of it....
They named him Robert instead. Don't know if it was after Johnson or Goulet...

I think this was live at San Quentin
I've got the full concert version. It's obvious from the between song patter that he is just totally smashed on pills. Still great tho.
Elvis' Comeback Special is another great one and it's available on DVD.
Yeah what a guy-legendary show! I just don't think there will ever be anyone like him. Stormy, tender, funny, wise, humbled. I love Folsom and have the Cash/Dylan Nashville outtakes on all the time.
My baby girl knows who Johnny Cash is and will ask to hear him. Guess I ain't that bad of a dad afterall...
