I am thinking of picking one of these up. I would be running it through my Recto 2x12 with Vintage 30s. I have heard that these heads are somewhat finicky about speakers. I don't have the room to add the matching cabinet.
I would appreciate hearing from any 5153 users.

I don't like them with V30s'. The EVH GBs' sound best.

Greenbacks sound best. My 5150III sounded bad with V30s.

Sounds pretty good with the V30s in this clip. I'm not a fan of the Mesa 2x12 either, but I like this demo. Not me BTW. I have never liked V30s at home by myself, kind of shrill. I love V30s with my band or at jams. They cut so well in the mix.

FWIW, I just brought home an EVH III 50 head and have been running it through the cab of my Peavey Classic 50 410.
Four ten-inch speakers are making it sound quite nice.....

I love v30's normally, but not with that amp..Agreed that the EVH GB's sound best. Without those speakers the 5153 sounds like a regular old Peavey 5150 amp imo.

Sounds great with v30s... I am an EVH owner. I have a Mesa 4x12 with v30s and a Splawn cab with greenbacks. I like both cabs with it. I actually like the v30s a little more.
