Hi guys. I just recently picked up a Cusack Screamer V2 to replace the stock TS9 I had for a while. I love this pedal. I love tube screamers and this is the nicest and most versatile TS I've played. It's definitely what I want for my main overdriven sound.
Anyway, I've had a boss bd-2 on my board for a little while now and have been wanting to replace it with something better. One idea I had was to just send the bd-2 to keeley to have it modded.
Once I browsed the website for while, it just seems like all the boss mods were really cool. Especially the bd-2, ds-1, and od-2 mods.
Anyone have experience with any of these mods? I'm trying to figure out what will sound nice stacked on top of the Cusack Screamer.
Just looking for some insight as to how you think each would interact with the CS.

Keeley does amazing mods. You should definitely have him mod your TS9 and BD2. He really turns those pedals around and makes them TONE MACHINES! I've never tried a Cusack, but I'm pretty certain any overdrive that Keeley touches will knock anything off your board.

I own 3 pedals with Keeley mods that have been on my board for years with the exception of one.A BD-2, TS-9, & a DS-1. I love 'em. The bd-2 has the " Phat" mod and sounds great. The TS-9 I use primarily as a mid boost for all my other pedals, and it works great for that. The DS-1 is the only one that's not on my board anymore. It has the " ultra mod" and though it is a good sounding pedal, I have found other pedals that do the same thing that I think sound better, so after a couple of years it didn't make the cut. Keeley has great stuff.

I would HIGHLY recommend considering the Monte Allums mods over the Keeley Phat Mod. I've owned both and although the Keeley is an excellent mod, I find the Allums to be far superior.
Specifically, Monte's Blues Stack mod. It kills all the fizz associated with the stock sound, opens up the tone knob to be more responsive and useful, and creates a gain range that can give you clean boost through warm OD to the brink of dist/fuzz. All without scooping the sound like the Keeley.
No disrespect to Keeley whatsoever, but TGP (to me, at least) appears brainwashed into thinking the Keeley BD-2 is the only credible mod. Sorry everyone, but take a look around when it comes to BD-2 threads, it's a Keeley landslide. There are some other fantastic (and cheaper) BD-2 mods....don't fear them!

That actually sounds really awesome. I don't really want an overwhelming amount of distortion but it would be nice to get some fuzz tones every now and then.
I love the blues driver. I just don't use it as much because of that fizziness you mentioned.
I like the idea of the keeley mod giving more of a full range tone but maybe something else would be better. Thinking, thinking, thinking.

Yup, fizz is gone for sure. The real awesome thing about the Allums mod though is how FULL RANGE the tone and gain knobs are. From my experience with Boss pedals, which I consider extensive since I've owned many stock and mod versions over the last few years, there always seems to be a particular curve with each of the controls....which to me seems limited. They're only usable within a few numbers on the dial. Granted, you can get great tones, however, they're only good for those few sweet spots. The rest of the sweep is pretty useless, either too little or two much effect. (Maybe that's why Boss sells so many types/models of dirt pedals?)
Both the Keeley and Allums mods unlock these ranges. The full dial, from 7 to 5 o'clock, is completely useful. As I said above, IMO the Allums mod does it better than Keeley.

I love my Keely BD2. I think it's probably my favorite pedal.
