I am looking for an interesting chording OD pedal. Right now I have a Red Llama and I love it.

I am just looking for a different flavor.

Things I have tried and am not interested in:

Catalinbread CB30 (I loved their WIIO but hated this pedal)
Timmy/Tim (A little too mild mannered for my taste)
Visual Sound Open Road (Just sounded lifeless compared to the Red Llama)
Honey Bee (not enough High end cut or gain)

Things I might be interested in:

WIIO - had one once that I really liked.
Honey Beest - More gain and High end. Might be perfect.
Foxy Brown
Rock Candy
OCD
SFT

My setup is a warmoth Tele that I built with a Rosewood neck with Ebony board -> Bud Wah -> Korg Pitchblack -> Loopmaster A/B master bypass and flip flop (allows me to bypass the loops for a clean tone, A for rhythm dirt with Llama and this hypothetical pedal, or B for lead tone with Barber Small fry) -> El Capistan -> Goodsell Super 17 Black Series 1x12.

What do you guys think? Just looking for a different rhythm crunch from the Red Llama... or maybe something like an EP boost before the Llama to kick it in the pants.

Try the Trex Yellow Drive, everything you described times 2, and not a bad price.

What about a DLS? It can go from just a light Marshall-y grit to medium crunch.

Or how about one of the special edition Catalinbread RAH edition WIIO? It's a WIIO with some of the DLS mkII cabinet emulation circuitry.

SFT and OCD sound like they'll fit the bill too - just pick your flavor. Nothing against your other choices - I'm just not familiar with them.

Barber Direct Drive. Great Marshall tones. Also if you dig the Who Hiwatt sound, then the Bearfoot H.

I have three different gains on my board, one for low
As much as I absolutely love the transparent tone of the Barber, if I'm honest the OCD get's the most play. It's really a grwat sounding pedal with a huge range in gain levels. It can do a relatively mild OD (not as mild as an LTD or Timmy though), and it can get almost up to "distortion" type gain as well. THe key, I think it it's "LP"/"HP" toggle. I have it dialed in as a medium gain, and it sounds great!

You should definitely give on a try to see if you like it.

If the Timmy was too mild mannered, maybe the Lovepedal Amp11 may be more to your liking since it has the COT boost to kick it into another gear?

It wasn't really the amount of gain that made it mild mannered. I should have clarified. When I switched from an AC15 to the Goodsell the Tim just didn't work the same. But I like the clean tone of the Goodsell better than the AC15 so I would rather look for pedals that get me what I'm looking for.

The gain quality was a little too mild. Now the Red Llama is exactly the kinda thing I'm looking for. The RAH sounds pretty cool.

You mentioned OCD. I'd originally bought mine for its heavier drive sounds and leads. I find myself using it as much for lower gain rhythm (with tons of harmonic texture) as I do for the heavier stuff. Pedal covers a ton of ground, can get very un-mild-mannered, and the LF/HF toggle is great.

Keeley RAT

got one recently and it can go from dirty boost to metal crunch, really is great as a dirty boost, likes other dirts before it. I was really surprised how useful it has been.

Yeah +1
They stack great and really play nice with a lot of different amps.

I suggest the Wampler Paisley.. back off the overdrive to 8 or 9 o'clock and it sounds great. Your telecaster will thank you !

I keep suggesting this one for threads like this and it gets ignored AFAIK. The Subdecay Super Nova Drive has a really wide gain range, 3 knob eq, and really has a voice and a vibe all it's own. Besides that, I also have a WIIO and love it. It stacks well with the Super Nova.

I would say the Blackstone. It's my go to drive and it is very tweakable, so it's not as rig dependent as some drive pedals. And, you get two channels of gain. Plus, it isn't a copy of everything else. It has it's own sound and it's very very amp like. The touch response is superb. Very smooth, articulate drive. I have had a lot of drive pedals, and I have heard a lot of drive pedals through a lot of different high end amps, and the Blackstone is still my favorite.

Also, I am saying his based on what other pedals you are considering (or not considering - Timmy didn't do it for me either) and that you want something good for chording. The only other pedal as good for chording as the Blackstone is the Kalamazoo IMO. I sold the K'zoo because I got similar tones from the Blackstone and more versatility.
