I just sold the Fromel Shape to make room for something else on my board and my tone is sorely missing it. I should have just ran it in the loop. Is there something better or equally as good or should I just get another Shape?

using EQs in the FX loop will totally reshape the sound of the amp itself.
...sending an EQ into the input of the amp is like playing with different pickups.

that being said: the MXR 10 band is cheaper and it totally blows me away how drastic using it in the FX loop is.
just a small adjustment of only a couple of sliders and it goes from: meh ** to: f*ck yeah!

i imagine the fromel shape is great but it's more expensive just to have "boutique"
MXR is just fine. a ton of people use it. a ton of pros use it.

The shape. It's stellar buffer kills on the loop of my Budda. Nothing else sounds good in there without it. But don't fret. You can get an amp
Candy model which takes up less space and is better suited for a loop situation, especially on top if the amp.

I haven't played anything better than the shape eq.

Buy another Shape or if you come across an original TC Electronic SPE (Sustain + Parametric EQ), don't pass it up.

This is what I'm leaning towards.

The TC Para looks interesting. How often do these come up for sale and what is the average price?

I should also note, I'm not using any other effects in the loop, I simply don't have room on my board any longer and I use a few different fuzzes a lot. The EQ really helps them cut through/sound their best.

Since I will be running another eq in the loop eventually, I may as well experiment with other stuff. Does a phaser sound good in there?

Using an efx pedal in the loop of an amp will really depend upon the design of the efx loop. Some amps have well designed buffered loops that can accept either instrument or line level effects. Some amps have a simple "patch point" between the preamp section and power section of your amp. Those types of loops will usually overload the average effects pedal. The Empress and MXR should work fine in either case as they can have the headroom.

Not very often, but the floor version(SPE) pop up every so often on Ebay.

Well then, I was *about* to bug you about reissuing the SansAmp Classic but then I clicked through and saw the updated web page saying it'll be back...this month! So, scratch that. Thank you for reading my mind.

Thanks for telling me. I didn't even know it had been announced. They never tell me anything...unless I ask.

I found the Fromel so useful and great sounding that I took it off my guitar board and hooked it up to my 24 channel analog mixing board on an aux send. Now it shapes vocals, drums, bass, synths, guitar, etc. Very useful box in the studio.

Can you elaborate on this a little? Placement, settings etc. I am also thinking of adding a para eq to the loop of my SD30 and am intrigued about the benefits of the buffer in the Shape. Thanks.
