This is just a yes or no answer probably. Is it cool for the drummer in your band bad that gigs 75-100 dates a year, who you just recorded a 5 song Demo with, to immediately use that Demo to try and get hired with another band...and NOT say a word about it?

It seems shady to me.....but I'm curious what others think?

There's one thing I've learned about musicians.........they're musicians.

Oh wait that was my comment about people.........they're people.

With all of the dog talk on the TGP here is the lesson. It's a dog eat dog world.

Pretty tacky of him but "every man for himself " seems to be the norm.

Did he sign a non-compete?

There's a reason the words "drama" and "drummer" sound so much alike.

My opinion.

The world is a harsh place.
Sac up.

He contributed to the demo too.

The big question is: Is he looking to leave your band, or simply looking for additional work in between your dates?

Yeah, you're right. I mean he only pushed the idea so he could take our band's demo and market the group to get some better gigs. And he still owes for the session (he's only working PT at the moment and can't "afford" the costs)...but that's cool too..right?

You guys must be related.:rimshot

We'd be having a face to face chat very quickly. I'd want to know what's up, in no uncertain terms.

the best thing to do in this situation is have an on-stage fight with the singer , then fire the bassist ,

imho

Awesome.

Who cares? A band that's gigging every 3 to 4 days will have no problem hiring another drummer.....

Well....I tried that about a half hour ago via email....and he seemed to be unable to string coherent words together. He said he "Loved" the band....and is only trying to get more "experience" as a drummer, and that I'm "reading too much into things". Keep in mind the guy takes drum lessons every week too, in addition to practicing with us, and gigging every weekend.

I responded to him, asking why he didn't even mention it to me when we talked on the phone last night, when we covered band business....but he didn't reply. He's not answering his phone BTW.

Anyway....I just got a call from my Bass Player, and he's found a replacement drummer. It turns out the Engineer that did our Promo is also a damn fine drummer....and he said he really liked us, and would love to play with us.

Drama over I suppose..............:bong

It sucks, find a new guy that wants to play.

I just found out that my drummer has no time for me anymore is in two giging bands and has a big show coming up in nashville.

Oh well .......

I don't have a problem with that. He played on it, right?

I've played with the same 5-6 guys for the last 15 years in various bands, mainly because we don't create a bunch of unnecessary drama when someone wants to pursue other musical opportunities.
