None of Page's Les Pauls in the 70s had nearly that much flame.

Where could I get one of those? How is the action / playability? How is the tone?

it is sad but there are people who worship him. i certainly do not. i love those guitars though. but a good player should be able to make just about any guitar sound good. i don't have enough room for more amps, pedals, etc.; i am mostly a plug and play guy anyway. i do have a phase 90 pedal made in 1974 though! never use it. i like historics with Brazilian fret boards too

It's okay, your a strong admirer of Jimmy Page then. :facepalm

FWIW. I have 2 Les Pauls that are setup to look like his and I own a Black DC 59 Danelectro. Was thinking about painting one of my strats and teles and I seriously considered buying a Doubleneck. I also have a bass that looks like John Paul Jones Jazz bass from that era

To top that we play a Full sets worth of Zep in my crappy Bar band :nuts

They have a 12 step program for guys like us. I go 2 times a month :dude.

It's okay, your safe here. We fully understand :messedup

While that photo does make a good case for #2, I would still say I'm not seeing a particularly high degree of flame in either one, at least not enough to match the Pauls in the OP's photo. Frankly, #1 in the first photo below looks like a flat-out plaintop.

Yes, at different angles and different lighting, like any other guitar, there appears to be more / less flame. I posted pics of my guitars from other angles in which the flame goes away as well. I prefer more flame, even if it does not look as much like the original; it is still built like the original and I get amazing tone from them.
