I'm thinking about doing a Darkback/Sweet Cherry refin but I'm wondering if I can add some color to this burst on my Les Paul Standard Faded. The burst just seems to be sprayed in an odd pattern and it doesn't have enough red or brown or something. I just want more. I'm not sure what I want more of though but I'm not sure that a full refinish is necessary.
This is mine:

I want it to maybe look like this: (obviously not excatly, but close)

I would think that would be no problem at all. A good refinisher should be able to do that no problem without a full refinish.

Absolutely.

A good luthier can do this without a problem.

Do you want to do this yourself or contract it out? Many here can give you recommendations either way.

I would definitely contract it out. I won't even get near a piece of canvas with paint! I was just thinking that it's a good base for another type of burst.
