View Full Version : My 11R Outputs

I keep reading that the XLR Line Level outs are not affected by RIG settings.
Mine are. If I put my 11R on RIG No Cab the XLR outs go to HE**. They get raspy and just sound awful. Switch back and they're fine.
The other thing I've read is the 1/4 inch output (A & B) are separately configurable and mine are not. If I set the Right out Rig No Cab, the Left Out is Rig No Cab.
If I want to run Rig No Cab to my Power Amp and to a House Board, my board output sounds like CRAP. So now I'm looking for a powered full range cab.
Can't run rig no cab to power amp because the board sends go to heck.
Can't run Rig Out to a board because the power amp sends go to heck.
ANY IDEAS.......................I've been testing this for two days.

Why would you run direct as Rig out No cab? You need cabinet emulation on if running direct, or to FRFR. Only run No Cab if using an actual guitar cabinet.
Edit: Outputs to Amp are indeed separately configurable but anytime you set anything to "No Cab" it'll turn the cabinet emulation off. The only way to send a signal without the cab sim out the Output to Amp is to set it for "Amp out" but you will lose anything placed after the amp in the signal chain, to that output. XLR will remain full signal path.

Ditto what mouser said. That is unfortunately the way the 11R works.

You run no cab to a power amp or an effects return of which I have both. In either case you would not want to run the cab sims because they sound out of phase.
You run XLR to a board which I also have.

Sadly, the 11R doesn't have the capacity to process two separate signals that way. You can set the 1/4" outputs to tap off the signal before the cab if you like (while still keeping the full rig signal in the XLR's), but you'll lose everything that comes after the cab in the chain. But it can't do both rig + no cab on the 1/4" "output to amp" jacks and full rig (with cab) on the XLR outputs at the same time. That would essentially require twice the amount of processing, something the 11R isn't designed for.

I think it's obvious that 11R was designed mainly as a studio box. It's missing some live routing options and there are no reverb or delay trails when switching patches. It still works well live, but you have to keep things simple.

That's what I'm saying, when I take the cab sims off the 1/4" amp outs it takes the cab sims off the XLR's also. Even the video say's you shut the amp sims off for running to a power amp while running the directs FOH.
I was starting to think there was something wrong with mine. The other night at practice I ran both and the main send sucked really bad. I've really just started using this thing live and bass our player hates not have the amp in room thing. Now that won't happen.
If I'm going to have to mike it I might as well use my amp or use a small PA cab for stage fill.
So much for the END ALL claim. This thing still ROCKS.

Exactly, and that's been my claim for many people. It's a recording interface.
TM-60 here I come.
I use a Red Box Pro, with the cab sim on, for the XLR send to FOH when I'm using my guitar cabs and rig out-no cab.
Not perfect, but it sounds good to me...although, mic'ing the cab is the same basic procedure, so you probably wouldn't like the Red Box idea either.
The way I see it, if you're using the 11R with guitar cabs, it must be because you like the sound of the cabs, so why not mic them? Yeah, it's a recording interface, but it's also the best sounding live guitar rig I've used and I basically just treat it like I would any guitar amp.
I also have a pair of K10's and I would use them to monitor on stage if I needed to go direct to FOH using Rig Out.
