I am about to pull the trigger on a new Les Paul. After much agonizing I have it narrowed down to three options. A new Traditional pro, a new Classic Custom or a used GO or RO VOS. ON the surface it may seem like a no brainer because most LP fans will tell you that the historics are on a whole different level than the production Gibson LP's. I wouldn't know because I have never played an historic before. I think a used GO or RO will cost me about $400-600 more than a new Trad Pro or Classic Custom. So lets vote!!

I vote for the historic 99% of the time but why don't you just go out and play a bunch of Les Pauls and buy the one that feels/sounds right? Basing your decision on a GP poll is the wrong thing to do.

Is it gonna be a workhorse or wall dressing? If it's a horse, I want the best guitar for the cheapest money. First dents & scars don't hurt as bad.

The one that sounds best. That's all that matters. Maybe one day I will find the Les Paul that works for me, although they still have too many knobs.

If u have to buy new then try to get a leftover 2011 so u can get one of the last ones with correct fingerboard. I prefer getting used gibsons , I like historics from 90's to early 2000's but the pre historic reissues are great playing guitars also. There are some great playing production gibsons from that era also like standards and early 90's classics.
