Windows XP, Cubase SX3.0, BFD...
2 seperate HDs, one for the OS, the other for project files.

Have noticed that when I defrag as per the "You need to defrag this drive", I'll have a glitch or two...last was relatively minor, had to re-set some BFD options.

Do you Defrag on a regular basis even when the "analyzer" says "You do not need to defragment this drive at this time.",
and does that decrease the glitches?
Thanks for your input.

I'll usually let mine go until it's below 90 %. If you're using Win defrag, check out some 3rd party defrags.

When I was on PC I used Norton Speed Disk because, unlike Drefrag, it verifies everything it writes. Only use it AFTER backing up.

I used to do it every week or so, when I was paying attention.

Now I use Speed Disk for Mac on my audio hard drives, again about every week... after backing up!!

Thanks. Do you back up to CD-DVDs, or an external hard-drive via USB?

Tape drive for the system drive and archival, 2 firewire hard drives for the audio day-to-day.
