View Full Version : Fasttest bridge humbucker pickup
I always use the neck pickups because the bridge pickup always seems thin to my taste so which one you consider as the fattest bridge pickup.
IM looking for the fattest bridge pickup in humbucker.
I got Seymour Duncan in most of my guitars so i need some quality.
Thanks in advance.

Dimarzio Tone Zone is the first that comes to mind: http://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/humbuckers/high-power/tone-zone That's the fattest I personally know of.
I love the fat sounds of 70s Univox Humbuckers. Super awesome.

That might be a really fat sounding pickup, I don't know, but where would the topic starter buy one? You can't buy them in stores and it's not like they're on eBay all the time.

BKP warpig.
Be careful what you wish for, it is monstrously FAT.

hehehe...
well i will take a look
"Fat" as in flubby...or with clarity? The fattest tone with clairity I've heard is the DiMarzio "The Breed"...used by Steve Vai in at least one of his guitars.

I think you need to define "fat" better, haha :D.
I was on a quest for a fuller sounding bridge humbucker myself. I though maybe the Andy Timmons AT-100, but that ended up having a lot of low end, but not a lot of body. The Seymour Duncan Alt8 was incredibly full but maybe a little too overbearing for me.
I settled on the Suhr Doug Aldrich Bridge Humbucker. It had a suprising balance between fullness, clarity and a vintage sound. Especially for being in the "high output" category.
Good luck!

One of my guitars is wired so I can put both of my humbuckers in series, it is pretty damn fat without losing clarity or articulation; the bridge pups brightness keeps it balanced. It is like having on big humbucker.

The fattest trditional humbucker I've heard, and not my thing, is the late 70's, early 80's Gibson "Dirty Fingers".
