Now that got your attention...
Alternatively, what's a great compressor stompbox for bass? $$$ are not a factor, I just want something that's good basically.

I love my OB1 for guitar, but haven't tried it with my bass. Strymon does offer a bass modification for the OB1 if you order it directly through them. Diamond also makes a bass version of their compressor (~$250). My bandmate uses the Diamond comp on his guitar and loves it. Might be two options worth checking out.
Now where do I get one of those hot bass playing girlfriends? I have openings for both of those qualifications at the moment. ;)

Walk over to the TalkBass (dot com) forums and do a quick search. Compressors are one of the mainstays of bass (and they're often build into the amps as well), and you should be able to find at least half a dozen threads that will deal with this. If not, put up a thread and sit back and wait.
