I have the Cypress Mica one and it's great! Probably the most versitile strat i've played. It sounds great and the neck is awesome.

I say go for it!

I had one in Cypress Mica as well. Great guitar, just wasn't what I needed.

Thank you :D What I would like is to try a SRV strat to try the 12" neck to compare but I can't find one :/

I have an SRV strat, and have had 2 Mayer strats...the big dipper pups are very versatile and nice, I just preferred the 12" radius on the SRV neck. Both are great guitars!

Had a sunburst one. Loved the neck shape and tone of the pups.

The High E was too close to the fretboard edge though, no amount of shifting would help. Had to return it. Otherwise a nice guitar.

Cheers

It was a factory error or only the guitar that come like this?

He doesn't even play his own sig strat but on a couple songs at most? I'm talking about the production line...what's up with that?
I guess the good thing vs buying a srv sig is trying out the big dipper pickups and you could always switch out to texas specials...

And sell the big dipper for 400 buck on ebay , I wont do that cause I dig those BD pups!

Cheers Had the same problem w/ the Mayer I had. Also didn't care for the mid scooped pups and 6105 frets. Got a '62 AVHR shortly after and love it/still have it.

What's the difference between 6105 fret and other fret?

I think that's the coolest one next to the Cypress Mica. It's got a very classic look.

honestly, i'm a huge fan of mayer. but building a guitar from warmoth would be so much better imho.

you could get a srv style neck, neck shape and 12" radius in all, and you could still buy bd pickups.

I have the sunburst model and really love it! Neck feels really great, and the pickups are cool (I thought I read somewhere a while back on these that they're not actually the Big Dippers but modeled after the BD's, someone might be able to verify or deny that better than I can, though) but I can definitely see where they wouldn't be adored by all. I like this strat as a different flavor strat tone to my Suhr.

Someone mentioned the issues with the high E, I was thinking I was the only one! At just a quick glance, it almost looks as though the bridge is slight positioned more in that direction than it should be. I haven't actually tried to measure to verify that either, but I'm glad to know mine isn't the only one dealing with that problem...though it's gotta make you wonder a bit lol

I have a shoreline gold w/ comp stripe. Love the Oly White and Cypress colors best but since mine is old, I'll keep it :)

Great playing strat. Very comfy neck. Pups are very nice and versitile as mentioned. It's a great strat. Its pretty much based on an SRV strat but there are those few key differences (pups, frets, radius) that will make the overall experience different.

Either way, you'll likely end up very happy w/ either one.

What's the difference between 6105 fret and other fret? The 6105 is taller/skinnier than the medium jumbos on the Hot Rod.

All those great advice made me wanna buy one of this beauty :o

I just dunno if I want to buy it new 1599$ or used 1100$.. because I hate to buy used thing and love playing a strat that come right from the factory and I open the box myself :D

But the difference in price make me think about it... :s

I had these 3.

Sold the Shoreline Gold and Cypress Mica Green and still have the Charcoal Frost Metalic.

Wish I could have kept the Shoreline Gold, but needed to fund another purchase...

Why the first guitar seem to have a different rosewood color of the two other?

drod2045

Its all the same wood (African RW). Just like any other guitar with the same wood can look different.

Musicians Friend is constantly having 15% off. Just wait for the next one ant pull the trigger. Comes to 1350 (no tax if your out of state) and free shipping. With the sick incase bag, you cannot beat it.

There are a bunch of sunburst ones for decent prices on ebay right now. I prefer the white since its much more rare.
