Is there a specific stripper you use to speed the process? ( no wise cracks)

I was using a response from Mark at Lava on another thread where a person asked about the technique used, but it was a different kind of plug.
I assume all the rules apply.

I was just curious if there are any tips you can give or a link to another thread or video/etc. related to this issue. I'm just curious how far I need to strip each layer.

I did do a basic stripping to see how it would go.
I stripped the outer black sleeve, then compiled all the strands that encircle the next black wire and twisted it together.
Then I stripped the next black sleeve to expose the white (diaelectric).
I then stripped that to expose the core wire.

I heard if the core wire touches the inner black sleeve it will short the cable out.

Anyway, just looking for any way to speed the process and any other tips.
This seems like it will take a while.
Thanx

A couple more questions.
1. The "core" wire goes to the bottom tab correct?
2. Do both wires go into the little holes on the tabs? From bottom or top?
Will the shield wire even fit the little hole? If not, what is the process?

I havent tried soldering yet, just kinda eyeballing it.
I did get heat shrink tubing as well for a tighter fit of the small cable at the neck of the plug.

For the pancake plugs, ground goes to the bottom tab and the the inner wire to the top tab. I usually solder the tip of the wires or add some solder to the hole and solder the wires.

This is a pretty good video. Stripping the wire like he does in the video works pretty well.

Solder ONTO the tabs, don't have to go inside the hole.

The core wire goes onto the tab for the centre, ie the upper tab.
The outer wire is soldered onto the tab for the outer shell ie the lower tab.
If the core wire touches the outer wire it will short out. Don't worry about the black bit.

I use the yellow plastic wire stripper Mark sent me when I bought a wireless kit, you can get them on Ebay like this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Network-Wire-Cable-Punch-Down-Cutter-Stripper-RJ45-Cat5-/220969533870?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3372cf81ae#ht_1475wt_1180 or any electronics store will have one.

If using the yellow wire stripper, use the second section in to strip the outside sheath from your cable.
Then using a pin or small screwdriver tease the strands apart and twist into two 'pigtails'. Cut one of the 'pigtails' off. The other pigtail you will solder to the shell-side lug in your pancake plug.
Then use the innermost section of your plastic wire stripper to strip the sheath from the inmost part of your cable. When exposed, you will solder this wire to the lug attached to the 'pin' of your pancake plug.

I don't think you need anything to reinforce the cable at the neck of the plug. It won't hurt though.

Make surer you peel back the black PVC liner surrounding the inner core wire. If the black PVC liner touches the inner core wire, it will short out the circuit. Aside from that, inner core to the tab on the left, and the sheil wire to the lower tab on the right.
