A friend asked me for a good resource for free beginner's guitar lessons. I'm self-taught and can't read music or anything like that, so I am probably not the best person to give a recommendation on this.
Anybody have a good beginner's resource?

Thanks!

Don't know any websites, but I have a complete guitar course in PDF format.
It covers beginner to advanced.
It's the course I used to teach at night school when I was a music teacher. If you pm me an email address and I'll send it.

I know it can be hard to afford, time, money or both, but if you're just beginning, try to get at least a few lessons from a person.

There's a lot of really simple basic stuff like hand positions, handling picks or doing fingerpicking, chord moves, and at least the rudiments of theory as it applies to playing, that are best taught by a person.

Once you've got these, things like youtube or truefire can teach you lots. You don't want to limit yourself later on by learning and then having to unlearn, faulty technique etc.
