There are plenty of threads on the Timeline and plenty of discussion on switching systems including the Commander and a few passing comments pertaining to the 2 together, now here's an "FYI" post on the reality.
After much debate and consideration WRT switching systems I went the Voodoo Labs route of Pedal Switchers + Commander. Its a great set up and will suit my needs nicely. One concern was whether or not the Commander could "talk to" my Timeline and call up different presets. It can via midi cable (running from the last Pedal Switcher to the Timeline) with the caveat that you will be limited to the first 10 presets on the Timeline, specifically Banks 00A - 04B. There is a further limitation however that is likely of interest to anyone considering this set up.
Each of the presets on the Commander coincide with 1 (and only 1) bank on the TL and they are as follows: Comm 1 = TL 00A, Comm 2 = TL00B, Comm 3 = TL 01A and so on up to Comm 10 = TL04B.
If you are familiar with the layout of both devices and are following me to this point, you will see that being able to call up the first 10 presets on the Timeline does not mean you will necessarily have access to 10 different delays. For example, if I am going to configure the Commander such that the adjacent banks (ie. 1 & 6, 2 & 7, etc) are set up for lead and rhythm duties using the same delay setting, this will in fact require 2 banks on the Timeline (00A and 002B).
This is not going to be a significant issue for me, but I will guess that for some of you sporting Timelines and considering switching systems this will be a problem.
Anyway, hope this is of use to someone.
