Anybody have a good way to deepen the saddle on an ABR-1 w/o files???
I have a slot in said ABR-1 but the string keeps popping out...

You can try what Gibson does - give the string a sharp (but not real hard) smack w/ a small hammer while it's sitting where you want it.
Install a new string (though they never did...) and you should be good to go.

You could also use a piece of medium grit emory cloth folded in half.

Wrap a piece of fine sandpaper around a pocket knife blade. No files needed.
One of the local guitar repair guys uses this method to slot new nuts.... he does a great job. He did this out of necessity as a penniless teen, and got so good at it that he's never needed to use special files.

Seriously, that's how it's done. it's not like your taking a 16oz hammer and laying into it.

Thanks for the info guys...a number 6 triangle file did the trick!
I was just in a time crunch...I've got no saddle or nut files but wanted to take the guitar out that night...a trip to Home Depot and 6 bucks later it's all good!
