From Steve Cropper's Facebook page:

Today I lost my best friend, the World has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live. Duck Dunn died in his sleep Sunday morning May 13 in Tokyo Japan after finishing 2 shows at the Blue Note Night Club.

Wikipedia says that Duck is still alive...

We can hope Wikipedia is right, but Wikipedia probably isn't in Japan with Duck like Steve is.

RIP Duck! Such a distinctive sound and one of my first bass inspirations.

I'm gonna watch Blues Brothers right now. How depressing. I feel for Steve. I have a Thorn...GT 59 that looks like Steve's and has been named Cropper since Day one. It will be crying now for some time too:(

'She Caught the Katy' was one of the coolest lines I ever learned on bass and Duck is the reason I pay a P-bass with flats - RIP Duck

RIP DD. Last night I was onstage with my band and I turned to the bass player and said to him "let's pretend we're Duck Dunn and Steve Cropper". He knew exactly the feel I was talking about! Thanks Duck.

OH, crap.... awful. To me the center of the musical universe and the place I would most like to be/ have been was in Memphis in the 60s when Booker T & The MGs, Steve Cropper & Duck & co., were weaving their magic.

RIP Duck. What a loss.

Damn, this is a tough one.

Was fortunate enough to see him a couple of times with EC. The second time was in London for an all Blues program at the Royal Albert Hall. I think I was almost as excited at seeing Duck Dunn as I was Clapton

Rest In Peace and Thank You.

Another hero gone. Still, he lived the dream and went out playing. Mr. Dunn's legacy will outlive us all.

Sad , sad , day.
I can't believe it. My band played Soul Dressing last night , something we rarely do at gigs. We all just felt like doing it for no reason. Ended up being a 10+ min jam and the best song of the night. Crazy.

RIP , Duck.

Well damn, I have been out of town and out of touch so I just heard this. I have seen him with so many different people. I think the last time was with Neil Young. One of the greats.
