Do kids know what Twitter is?

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but currently making the round on Twitter is a message about a 9 year old kid with cancer and his ONE WISH is to trend worldwide. I have to wonder if 9 year old are that aware of Twitter, how it works, and what it means to trend worldwide. It just doesn't seem possible.

My 18 month old boy has figured out how to unlock my wife's iPad and launch games even though we usually keep it hidden away from him. It's the same with her cell phone. I figure he'll be tweeting before he reaches 24 months.
