Hello, I'm thinking of buying a 2005 PRS McCarty with Rosewood neck.
I've had four McCartys, but none with Rosewood neck.
Can anyone give me tips on the guitar, especially in the combination of the Rosewood neck with the McCarty pickups?
Thank you.

I couldn't hang with stock pickups on a McRosy.
For me a WCR darkburst set completely changed the guitar into tone monster...
YMMV

There's nothing like a solid rosewood neck. My McCarty Rosewood is my favorite guitar I've ever played. I can't comment on the McCartys, but when I got mine it had a PRS Dragon II treble in the bridge and a SD SH2-N in the neck, I didn't particularly care for them, but more importantly, with no boost or anything they would clip the input of the timefactor and modfactor pedals I was using at the time, so they had to go. I knew a guy with a modern eagle (very similar guitar, different pickups) and I loved the sound of it, so I sprung for a set of RPs, got them installed and have never looked back or wanted to change them in the time I've owned the guitar. Plus, they split really well.
As far as the rosewood neck versus the finished neck, there is nothing as smooth as a solid rosewood neck. Nothing. It's a "feel" thing.

I had a McCarty with a rosewood neck, a 2003. It was beautiful.
By itself, it was the best sounding guitar in my modest arsenal. But as soon as I was playing with a band, I could not get it to cut through the mix at all. I figured it was just the pickups, but I tried six or seven sets. The end result was always one of two things; either it disappeared in the mix, or the low end's balls were cut off. I couldn't ever find the sweet spot between the two. The right pickups are out there, I just couldn't find them and got tired of trying.
