Going to buy the pro jr for 225 - Just curious I NEVER associated Fender sound with EL84

What other Fenders have EL84s or similar

I am tubepid but I thought 6v6-6l6 was all part of the Fender tone

I knew the modern Blues Jr & Pro Jr had them but don't really recall ever seeing other Fenders using those

My point/question is how can the Blues Jr & Pro Jr cop classic Fender tones with those type of tubes. They do not wreak of Fender tones in my limited experience

I see the Pro Jr compared to the tweed tone but I don't think EL84s contributed to that tone.

I ask because I have a classic 30 and the Pro jr will have the same type tubes so should I expect a similar tone. ????

The pro junior is more Marshall than tweed.

EL84s aren't "the fender" tone but the Blues Jr and Pro Jr do cop very good clean tones compared to say Marshall. They also aren't jangly like a Vox per se.

I like the Pro Jrs a lot. For 225$ you get a really great tube amp. You can always upgrade it as well if you're in to that thing but OOTB, they are very nice. They can sound boxy at times but man can those roar.

As for Tweed vs. Marshall in tone, well, I can understand both arguments. It doesn't cop a total tweed sound but the type of break-up it has lends to Tweed characteristics compression wise.

I'd buy it :)

I am not sure simply because I have classic 30 which has the same tube config just bigger

I may have to hold out for Princeton or I may get the Pro Jr for cheap grab and go.

Either way I am selling the C30

It's not very difficult to mod a Blues JR to an AC15 spec I think.

Something I want to try.
