I want something that will sound just like my original sound, but with some hair on top. Not ts level hair but just present enough to notice and cut through more.
What do you guys think? I was actually looking at a double muff and thinking that might pull it off, anything else?

A Timmy is the answer. Why the heck you thought of Double Muff?

...and the Catalinbread Naga Viper is another answer...
I used mine live this weekend, and it did the best job of this of any boost I've ever tried, and I've had everything from a Klon Centaur to an EP Booster.

What amp? Timmy is great for a lot of amps. I play a Vox AC15 and I prefer the Walrus Audio Mayflower for this application. Either one of those is your best bet likely.

Timmy! And yes it works worth Fender amps, like Twin or Bassman. My Tweed Hot Rod Deluxe loves Timmy too. It's cliche to say 'Timmy' anymore, but it's true!

Nice choice as well-I have had one of these for
years!
This and the Naga Viper are, to my ears, both more inspiring than the Tim/Timmy pedals-I had a Tim and sold it...obviously, though, it works wonders for many.

Do consider the Barber LTD SR. I still kick myself for selling it. The guy I sold it to said he preferred it over the Timmy. :dunno

A+ for the Tim,...Just got my V-1 about 10 days ago and was reading the "Not for Fender type amp.s" post and half believed 'em...Well, I posted it F/S, didn't see much action (In 8 hr.s..LOL, patience is NOT a strong point of mine) Had my Tele. out from the night before just to strum etc.,..in an after thought I plugged it into my BJ III...I have NO Idea of what the Nay Fender folk's were thinkin'...Tone/ Boost for days..I then ran it with my AmStd. HSS Strat., ..not as great as the Tele.,..But, still no slouch..Fooled/dialed a little more and again..Bliss. I use mainly Boost and Drivers when I use pedals...Let's just say..I pulled my F/S post faster than any post I've ever removed before. Tom

I'd go with the Naga Viper based on the OP looking for more cut.
