So what's the latest story with this pedal? Are the new ones just as good as the old ones? Anything else out there like it?

Also, to my ears this sounds like the effect Jeff Tweedy used on Hell is Chrome and some other tracks. Is that confirmed anywhered? I love that sound. How does it stand out in a live situation?

I'm thinking about buying one.

Incredible pedal and sounds good both on bass and guitar. The old ones I believe didn't have the switch for bass/guitar but the new ones do. With my guitar, I was able to get synth sounds and very usable overdrive sounds. It cuts really well. Multitude of sounds to be found in this pedal. And yes, I believe Tweedy used the P&C all over Ghost Is Born.

Unfortunately, my wife confiscated it from me for her bass and she uses it now. She used it last night at prac and sounded awesome.

No idea what it sounds like, but the thread title made me throw up a little in my mouth.

Great pedal! It's actually named after the British cartoon "Roobarb & Custard" from the 70s/80s, because you can play the theme tune on it ...

Crowther is a great dude and never compromises his builds.

Pretty sure its well documented somewhere on the internets that Tweedy used this pedal during A Ghost Is Born recording and tour.

Yeah, Tweedy definitely used this during that time frame.

The only addition or change to the new ones compared to the original is that there is now a toggle that goes from Guitar to Bass. That's about it.

Still solidly built and sounding amazing.
