I decided I would finally get rid of the squeal thats been plaguing my '68 Traynor Custom Reverb for years. With volumes above 5 it would start squealing very loudly. I thought it was a tube and replaced each section with a known good tube. When this didn't work I simply unplugged the tank; no noise.
I really want the reverb, and I did notice that unplugged, it is now a gain knob, giving a small gain boost.
Does this show that the tank is bad? It works great at low volumes; tons of huge reverb. Possibly a bad cap inside the amp? I figured the tank was fine as the verb actually works.
