I have been able to get pretty decent direct recording from the line out of my Rivera into a Palmer box. Just wondering...just how is a line out jack put into an amp? Can it be easily added? Are there variables that make some line outs better than others for recording?
Thanks
Kevin

There are 3 line out types that I'm aware of:
1)Preamp out: this can easily be added to any amp but you loose the tonal characteristics of the power amp & speakers.
2)Attenuated power amp output: again, easily added to any amp but you loose the tonal characteristics of the speakers.
3)Attenuated power amp output with speaker simulator: with a speaker simulator, it may be too large to mount inside an existing amp chassis but it will be tonally closer to what miced speakers sound like. However, every speaker has its own tonal charactersitics so a speaker simulator may not sound exactly like your existing speakers.
