This is a public service announcement. Don't watch this crap on HSN or you will puke.

I get really sad when I see people overpaying for this unplayable crap.

Randy knows what he's doing here. He's taking advantage of people that don't know any better.

I hear his whammy bar is a little pitchy

Come on now, the Dawg has to make the cash up somewhere now that Idol is over. For only $349 you get a guitar that has blue lights on it, a sheet of paper with the circle of fifths on it , a amp, a faux gator bag and DVD of Randy showin' ya how its done. I'm of the belief that if you buy that because Randy Jackson's name is on it, you deserve to be parted with your money.

I tuned in to hear the host sing "God Bless the USA." Randy didn't say she was pitchy.

Disappointed.

I had to watch for a bit. Great comedy. My favorite was the host saying, "you get an extra large pick, something we've never offered before".

He sells cheap watches & costume jewelry too.

Thats what one tour with Journey in the 80's and american idol will do for you. :hide2

The 3 minutes I saw, the host mentioned the bracing on the neck. Randy quickly changed the subject to the top or other such nonsense.

Only 10,000 made? That's a rare bird indeed! I know how hard it is to find a used Esteban these days if you don't have a Salvation Army Store nearby.

The reviews are entertaining :

"My brother loved this guitar pkg. that I gave him for Christmas. It has a rich, crisp sound that you'd find in a $1000.00 guitar. The amplifier has more than enough amps to handle it. And the bold blue color topped it off for him. Thank you HSN and Randy Jackson. It was the perfect gift!! "

I have to know how they compared it to a $1,000 guitar acoustic guitar and came to that conclusion.....

Did they actually play a Martin, Taylor or Gibson acoustic guitar(or hear someone else play it) made out of real spruce and mahogany so they could compare it to the Jackson guitar made from lot's of glue and pressed sawdust and painted real purdy.......? I wonder.

Could those reviews be phony? Oh my goodness, I hope not....that would be dishonest!

i love it when companies using American in a products name that is NOT made here or uses mostly foreign parts. I can think of one in the MI industry I work in that is outright offensive :FM

If you want to be entertained, check out Randy Jackson(the yo pitchy guy from american idol)on HSN.He's back with his limited (limited to how many he can sell)electric or acoustic guitar package, a $800 value!! for only 289.95!!
I mean ,just the guitar is a $500 value!Of course its hyped to death, the hostess is endlessly bragging that the guitars are made from real wood!! and the callers are priceless. One guy has a large guitar collection but he was so impressed had to buy two of these.Really Id say the guitar goes for $150,the 15 watt amp-$50,throw in a guitar strap picks strings, chord chart cleaning cloth
and a very cheap plastic looking case.Id say all total you can all this for about $250 to $275.But I forgot to mention it comes with a framed certificate of authenticity-and no Im not kidding.

I'd need and amp with, I dunno, maybe another...three or four...quads per channel. But that's me, that's just technical.

I spotted "Jackson Guitars" tonight in the HSN time slot on the program guide. I went there to see what it was. The hostess said the guitars had a genuine rosewood 'finger bar' and a turquoise stone embedded in the wood, as she emphasized that it was considered a mark of quality by guitar players the world over. Then I saw the laundry list of all the stuff included in the package and what they valued each item at. $500 for that hideous guitar. $8 for a rag. $7 for a chord chart. $24 for 6 individual replacement strings (that one really got me!:rotflmao ). I thought "Some fools are going to lose lots of money on this junk."

But it has a "Signature polishing cloth"!

I can't wait to buy the Simon Cowell Feedback Generator, the Paula Abdul Echo-drek, and Steven Tyler Face-Lifter Cream!

At first I thought this thread title meant Randy Jackson of Zebra was selling all of his guitars!

I saw this hucksterism a few months ago. At that point it had a different title. I forget what it was exactly, but it led me to expect that it would be a documentary about Randy Jackson's studio career. I tuned in, and was pissed!

I'm pretty sure I'd get on board if someone wanted to go on QVC and sell ACfixer beginner guitar packages. Pretty sure most of you would as well, the A-bone guitar, the Frankee guitar... whatever. Most of us would accept the chance to make some extra dough, even someone that makes what Jackson does.

There's no debate when it comes to what you're getting here, it's crap and everyone knows it. Do you think any kid would be caught dead with a Randy Jackson guitar? The target audience (I assume) are out of touch adults like the kid's aunt or grandmother that buys it thinking they might get the youngster into music... They've heard of American Idol and understand it's popular, and so this is the perfect setup for Timmy. Timmy hates it, "plays" it a few times to make his mom happy, and into the closet it goes. Salvation Army thrift store will receive it with three strings two years or so later.

And with all this superiorism we feel about this product they will sell out. I have watched the coin shows on the tv and they sell junk coins for 3x spot. I found out my grandpa had actually bought some. QVC is an amazing scammer bot that is an unstoppable sales machine. They are predators.
I hate it when I see people with Esteban guitars come in my repair shop. How come I am always the guy who has to explain they bought crap product and i will not work on it because my hourly rate is higher than the guitars worth? Thanks Dawg. You just devalued every other product your name has ever been associated with.

Then it ends up as an "NGD: Salvation Army Score" on TGP! :aok

What sucks about this is that Randy has the kind of coin that wold have allowed him to have a really great product. His taking the low road is very disappointing.

On the other hand, if he's already cheapened his cred from American Idol, why not the QVC.

I have no issue if he's getting paid for pawning cheesy guitars on qvc, I have issue with "American tribute" with the flag painted on them, quotes of "Let Freedom Ring" etc when they are clearly NOT made in America.

Another problem with these is all the people who will wind up aborting their interest in guitar because they aren't able to experience a quality instrument. Or as noted above, a young kid whose is too embarrassed by it to learn with it.
