Yeah, just read that. Surprised they gave him a liver at 71. My father-in-law has had chronic liver problems and can't get one because he's in his 70's. Hope Lou heals up soon. The rejection drugs have some bad side effects. Lower immune system leaves you with more sickness and random infections. I know someone who got a transplant and he said he instantly felt better after the surgery. More energy.

My dad needed one last year and never had a shot. He died at 62 because he's not an icon.

Not true. You will not get a liver if you are a practicing alcoholic an/or drug addict. Not to open a can of worms, since I don't know the exact circumstances, but there ARE criteria for getting on a list for transplantation. The reality is there aren't enough organs to go around and someone with money and connections certainly has a better chance of receiving a needed organ.

One of the criteria being awesome insurance and/or a fat wallet.

That said, fill out yer organ donor cards. All our cool gear combined can't give the gift of life once we croak.
