best cheap amp stand for 1x12?

I've got a Fort which works well and is height adjustable. I'm sure its under $40, but I'm not sure as most of the online searches don't bring it up. I made a deal when I bought my F-30, I got it free.

I think most of what you're looking for can be had around $35 in general. Sam Ash, Music123 and others have them in stock. Take a look around at those sites.

i've used a Gruven stand for over 3 yrs, cost $30, and has gotten a lot of use

I also use the now obsolete Mesa Kickstand, more of a piston-type apparatus for tilting the amp back....

How about a metal folding chair from a Goodwill store? Is that too cheap? Just duct-tape a 12" ruler or another shim-type peice of wood to the front edge so the amp won't topple off. I did this for years when I was a kid.

jeak, that's what I do, but the glue on the duct tape is custom made from matching horses' hooves by this little boutique glue shop I know. And the 12" ruler is vintage mahogany from '56 back when they had premium wood. Otherwise I can't get the tone I demand.

Do you think a 13" ruler would give me more sustain?

Ha ha! I don't know about more sustain, but you might get better bottom end. Try graphite for more high-end sparkle. Hey, the guy said "cheap." :rolleyes:

I've used a milk crate for many years. Lately, I found some plastic crates in different colors that are very similar to real milk crates at Target for about $3 each. I bought a couple of them (in blue).

I still find that the real vintage milk crates sound better, though :D

I also use the Ultimate. Folds up very compact, easy to carry. Some adjustability to angle. My amp weighs about 40 lbs. Not sure what the weight limit is on the stand.

I just got one of these. I never realized how much sound I was missing with the amp pointing at the back of my knees!
