let me rephrase this

hi,
I never use my amp reverb. Instead I use a pedal and use that only occasionally. I read something about removing reverb and "opening up the sound" on the amp. I also read about disconnecting the reverb and potential bad effects....something about a dummy load and reverbs being their own little power amp , something like that.

John Phillips explained it a little bit for me before, but I forgot one big point:
** my v4 preamp tube position is for the Reverb AND the FX loop........ I need the FX loop, can't avoid that. ***Does this rule out my idea completely?**

this is a Rivera R55
Thanks

Terminate the Reverb drive with the appropriate load (usually 8 ohms).

The way most amplifiers are wired is with the reverb being driven all the time and the reverb level is merely the gain of the recovery circuit.
