Here's a backing I did on Saturday:
http://www.marinblues.it/base/Marin_Driving_backing.mp3
and here's my take:
http://www.marinblues.it/music/Driving.mp3
everything was done in a bit in a hurry, but I liked the backing that came out. A few bu...homeless(!) notes in the solo, but no time to rerecord. :)
thanks for listening.

Yes, just 'cause the other notes have positions on the staff, and don't live "outside", doesn't mean they are any better.

Marin: that's a great backing, and I really liked the dynamics and the coiled energy of your take. Sounds really good to me!
I took a stab at it with my limited vocabulary in this genre.

Well, now I have to listen to everybody else's (always do that after I do mine!)
Here's mine! (http://www.funkyguitar.com/funkyguitar/marindriving.MP3) I really needed a catharsis, and no pillows were around to beat!
Sorry about the sound quality, I converted this at the same rate as my others, but this one sounds noticeably worse (128k). Maybe it's less obvious w/o headphones.

Great music Marin! the 6/8 feel is awesome, and you encouraged some part of my Hispanic roots with the G -F#7 bridge, maybe that caused I dared to make an intro to your song with my nylon strg. guitar in my take....I hope you like it , thank you again for this , you, Journo and L5player (among some few others) are my favorite MUSICAL BT makers!

Tyrone,
a very smooth solo with some hip phrasing. The tone isn't bad at all. Perhaps it could be a bit more "in the front" but still very smooth.

Thanks Marin, the gear was Ibanez AS83 > Boss CS-3 > Rectifier Stack > 2 SM57 > SPL Goldmike > MAudio Delta 66 > Logic/PC > Waves Q10 > Waves C4 > Waves C1
Yes, I'm a big Holdsworth fan since about 15 years and though I try not to copy him it's hard to get rid of the influence...
Another great player I focus on is Brett Garsed so in a couple of years I'm hopefully going to sound like something in between the two :)

Marin: Loved the tone. Well developed solo. Tone was similar to Carlos's on my laptop speaker. Real emotional....
Clay: Cool way of adding rhythm guitar to change the time feel. Nice jazzy solo is right! Good job.
Rid: Excellent way to dig right in. Nice out notes. Very nice solo.
Tyrone: Nice wet and fusiony tone. A tad low in the mix but good low end complexity ;) Excellent playing!!!
Weldaar: Hope the finger gets better soon! Sweet bluesy phrases bro! Any jams soon???
Jimi: Way to bring it! Good phrasing. What gear? Had that 1970 Johnny Mac Miles tone....
Markus you MOFO! Loved it bro! I need those chops.....now!!!
Slack: That was sweet Bill. You have great phrasing and lyrical ideas. Nice!

Man I twisted the tune a bit compared to what you had in mind Marin making a different little theme. I played thru the backing track before I heard any other takes so I would not copy anything else I hear on this thread....
I love all the takes on this tune from everyone! Marin, love the direction you took this one in, I steered it over to the left too much..lol
So many flavors to the mix...
What gear are you using there crybaby?
Thanks Scott, I don't think I have heard of Johnny Mac Miles before but I need to find some stuff on him and check it out.
Gear I used was "Twang Reverb" with Pro-Co Rat and TS-9 settings that are found within Guitar Rig 2, a little verb and some delay and my SG

Playing over backings while you're at the office? Dude, I need your job! LOL
Some great lines...actually, lots of great lines. Outro was badass! Tone was a little on the dry side, but I assume they don't let you bring your effects rack to work. ;)

That tone was achieve by using a factory preset on a Line6 Guitar Port! I took very little time tweaking a tone and quickly laid down some improv ideas. Your takes sound a lot closer to what I actually heard in my head before recording. If I get some time, I'll record a new take on it with one of my real amps at home and take more time to develop some solid musical ideas.

Thanks Marin,
I´m glad that you liked my playing. I prefer the first take myself, haha.
I have two guitars that I use, my main guitar is an old 1962 Stratocaster
and the other one is a 2001 Gibson Es 335. For amplification I use a Fender Twin from 1976 and for distortion V-stack Classic or V-stack Tweedy. I have a Tc-electronic G-major that I use for delay and noise gate. For recording I use a cheap microphone and a simple mixer from Behringer.

This is such a great backing track I couldn't resist. Thanks Marin. You have quite the creative soul.
It's my strat (neck pickup) into a Boss OD-3 at 11:00 into a Marshall reverb pedal and my Ibanez delay set for a short repeat into my Maz JR. NR.
There are a few clumsy places which I should probably fix but I really liked the intensity of the take so I just left things the way they came out. I like the OD-3. It's very transparent and sounds good in the highs. The low end is kinda loose though. I really do have to get a better dirt pedal though. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love the soundfiles of the eternity but it's so expensive.
Anyway, I hope you like it.
