So here lately, I have been jonesing for a Tele. I’m not really sure why. I have owned Teles in the past, and have always enjoyed playing them. However, recently, I have really wanted one to go with my Les Paul. I find myself looking at catalogs and browsing eBay. Think about them all day long. It’s kinda sick actually. lol! So, fuel my GAS. Show me your Teles! I'll start... I want this one!

Melancon Vintage Artist. Hollow Swamp Ash, 1 piece quartersawn maple neck. It has Bare knuckle "the Boss" pickups...close to P90s in output. Particular tone, not really "full on" tele-esque, but a mix of tele with some 335 thrown in...

MIM '50s Classic Tele turned into an Esquire (Hamel) on the left, my beloved CIJ TL52-80 (Hamels) on the right.

What are the tonal differences between Ash and Alder in regards to a tele. I want a warmer tone. Think more rock and less country.

Welcome back to the fold! I know Telecasters can be objects of obsession, not a bad thing though !:p That being said, I simply think Tele's are simply *The* sexiest, sweetest, meanest guitars ever made. Leo got it right the first time, often imitated, duplicated, boutiqued ? but the original design still stands the test of time...... The butterscotch/blackguard is my favorite color....Long live the mighty TELECASTER !:angel :o

Wow! Really good looking Teles! What are these? I just got an MIM 50s classic Esquire, which sounds and plays just fantastic, I'll probably convert it to a Tele though, it already has a Fralin on the bridge..

The blonde is a MIM '50s Classic converted to Esquire, the one on the right is my beloved TL52-80 (CIJ).

Both have Hamels.

How did you flip that image around and still keep the "Fender" logo legible?

Because you're smart.

Because it's a classic.

Why is it a classic?

Because it will get you through about any situation, any genre, recorded or live, from country to blues, jazz (neck p/u tone rolled back), rock, to metal (Page, anyone?). Heck, I saw a band called Cinderella, way too loud and definitely metal and one of the players had an old Tele. I didn't care for the music but his tone was great. The guitar did it!

The most simple designs are usually those that are the most successful. A chunk of wood with a bolt-on neck, two pup's, vol & tone and you're done. What more do you really need? As has been said many times..."Leo got it right the first time."

Buy one. Use it. Enjoy. You won't regret it. You may even find your other guitars keeping a lot of case time.
