Hello,

Sorry for the bone head lazy question.

I have a .mac (dot mac) account. How do I,
"host or post a soundfile so someone can
simply click on a link and the file magically
starts playing in another window, so I can
play someone a soundfile."????

Seems like it should be easy. I have poked around
the Apple help pages, but I must be looking in the
wrong place.

I have been using my dot mac account to make file
sharing web pages, so I have the idisk thing covered.

I'm clueless

THANKS for your help !!

:o

I never got around to researching the dot mac accounts and option but will check tomorrow at work.

Here's a program I have looked at that might be what you need. I have yet to use it but I have seen it in use and it seems very good.

Instead of creating a page with a bunch of links, I take the lazy (easiest) way out and link directly to the file, like this (http://homepage.mac.com/levelnine/temp/lessismore.mp3). I have a huge "temp" folder and don't want the directory listed, so this is how I handle it, and this way I don't have to worry about it stuffing already stuffed files, etc.

When you access your iDisk from the Finder (Go menu --> iDisk), you'll find a folder in there called Sites. If you put the file "clip.mp3" into your Sites folder, you can like to it with this url:

http://homepage.mac.com/yourusername/clip.mp3

That works for clips, pics, whatever. You can also create as many subfolders within Sites that you want.
