How would you guys suspect a MAZ 18 non-reverb head would sound through a Thiele cab loaded with a single EV12L? This would be my first Dr. Z and the drive is long, so I thought I'd ask first before hitting the road (which I'll probably do anyway...)!
Thanks! :AOK

Through the boogie? Probably sound good. My Z28 sounds damn good through the EVL loaded Theile Mesa cab I have, as does my Greer CAM18. I prefer openbacks, with Scumbag Speakers, but there's nothing wrong with the EV.

I owned a Maz Jr combo recently and I can tell you that it is the most powerful 18 watt amp made most likely. Very ballsy....huge deep bottom end that is also very detailed. I'm quite sure it would knock your socks off. If you are buying new, deal with Eric at Willcutts Guitar in Lexington Ky. as his service and expertise is first class.

You should post this over on the Z forum in the Maz Jr area

Just an update: the Dr. Z Maz Jr. (NR) Head officially sounds amazing through a Thiele 1X12 EV cab. Where have I been? This is an amazing sounding amplifier. The most real sounding amp I've ever played! And now own. Hahah!!! Awesome.

Cool. Those are my favorite Z amps. Assertive little mofos aren't they?

You are right about the amp but I think that little Mesa cab is a sweet sounding cab too!

My buddy with a Maz jr head has a Boogie / Thiele single cab with the EV12L and just loves it...even *gasp* a shade better than his Z Best 2x12......

My own Maz 18 jr NR head sounds insane through my Z Best with a Celestion Blue and a Heritage Greenback.

Hard to go wrong - and FWIW this is my second Maz 18 after suffering sellers remorse from selling my other one to my buddy mentioned above :crazy

I have a Maz 18 2x10 NR combo and plug in a Mesa Theil 1x12 cab for bigger rooms. It is awesome, my cab has the Mesa C90 though.
