hey guys,

for those of you who are Clapton fans, or just fans of the original JTM45's or early Vox's, one of the original favored Radio Spares Xformers are up for sale on ebay right now.

I certainly can't afford it, but for what it's worth, it'll probably go for a steal.

I've heard of em going for twice that. Those things MADE the early marshalls...It's the meat and potatoes of those early amps.

That price is completely absurd for an output transformer!

Do people think they are going to inherit Clapton's talent by buying this?

If you've never played through an amp w/ a Mercury Magnetics Radio Spares output tranny clone/upgrade then you probably wouldn't understand. If you own an original JTM45 w/ a bad tranny, or one missing a tranny, or want to capture that early JTM45 w/ an original tranny, then this is your ticket. They were quite rare, and I think that's why they go for so much. Only a thousand or two of these existed. Absurdity is 'boutique' or 'custom' builders who have a staff of 5 or more building all their amps for them while they oversee and rake in the $5,000 per stock amp, selling them through dealers with no consultation to the the client.
