Hamfisted??? HAMFISTED????? That was like the bastard lovechild of Jimi, Miles and Jeff Beck!!!! And yet... all Ed :D

The reverb and the extreme relative volume of the guitar track make it sound like a live recording... kinda cool! :thu:

The outstanding playing and production over here can be pretty intimidating for an untrained hack like me, but what I lack in chops I try to make up for with enthusiasm. Really fun backing, thanks!

Well I didn't really surprise myself with fact that I can play relatively clean (I've done that before, trust me:D)...but I did surprise myself by inventing some new licks and lines that I hadn't ever played before.

Red Ant and John Findley.. what gear did you guys use? My favorite tones so far.
Hi- i was using a 60s strat with Harmonic Design modern vintage pik-ups[that may not be the exact name]--in the bridge i use his mini-humbucker[i miss the ol' trebly stock tho]
speaking of which i almost started to use a Demeter mid-boost-that
someone up here put into a pedal-never got to it-anyhow it makes the back-pu thicker-more fusionee!

The amp was a Wakarusa BandMaster Mod (http://www.wakarusaamp.com/service/gallery/findbandmaster.html)-amazing amp-great 70s rock!-
i ran it low-used a Cot 50-or strait thru at the beginning of my clip-then switched to a xotic BB for the hi-gain.

The speaks were an old greenback 0n one side & a V30 on the other-in 2 seperate cabs.

Rid,

that was a wicked sound with some wicked playing. It sounds like a Strat...is it?

I'd feel like a total party-pooper if I didn't include my own version. I've really enjoyed the hell out of everyone's takes-great work, people!

Hi Scott-good to hear from ya & thanks!I think I had a good aingst on that day! [hey!: Aingst-Jazz!]

I just had a buddy blow sax on Dolphin Dance-but yer welcome to blow on it anytime still!-Im also putting real drums & bass on it-all piece work-but still better than midi/loops!

I may post it up here-he plays alot like Brecker & Shorter.

Thanks...I just went for it...did not want to get hung up in stuff, so I just played away!
Yep Marin it is my HW-1 strat, and took out the PGb humbucker and stuck the SSL-2 in it, then I thought about it....and stuck the PGb back....it just seems to click with this guitar, then flushed all the idealistic dreams about having a pure SSS strat;)
I think that I will make my old Tokai strat a SSS one again.

Wow!!! What a response!!! SO many great takes - i'm loving this!

John Findlay - I said it before and i'll say it again - you're a BAD MAN! My favorite take so far!

Ed D - you scare me, and i think i'm not alone in that ;) Seriously, that tele is YOU, methinks - you sound at the top of your game!

Claudio74 - gorgeous takes! Really playful and fun, with great tone to boot! Same ballpark i was going for, only better realized :)

HarryJ - another badass take!!! MEATY tone... only wish you mixed you guitar higher in the track!

marin - gorgeous, warm yet sparkly tone, really sweeet phrasing. Love the repeating phrases starting at 1:00 or so!

Soulman - peeeee-ewwww! That's stinky funky!!! :) LOVE the Octave sh*t!!!

Rid - Nice one!!! L O V E the tone!!! So expressive!! :)

AndyZ - another nice take! Love the octaves, and the breaths between the phrases!

Wow! How come that inside/outside stuff you guys are doing sounds so much cooler than when I attempt it? Bastages ;)

K... well... I closed my eyes and made some noise
Unlike Soulman... I used just about every effect I could find :-)

GOOD LORD! The smoke detectors went off on that one!
You gotta watch that kind of playing Harry. You might
set off some sprinkler systems at our work places. :AOK

OK you win......
But I must warn you I remixed it and added an 8 bar melody towards the middle...then got a little nuts...might be because it was 4:20 here.........
anyways..blame John Findlay if your dog runs away after playing this...

Thanks Ihallam, Wayne is also one of my Favorite composers..so that is quite the compliment......
I was actually trying to channel the spirit of Joe zawinul on the playing after the melody, but I think I had a bad connection and ended up channeling his lesser know cousin Fritz who works in a beer factory.......
I should aslo add that melody was based largely on Red Ants Rhodes cool comping
on the Backing Track...credit where credit is due.....i just heard that 8 bars of BT and new right away
what to play.......

You guys are inspiring me to record something..... I may have to dust off the mic!
Scotti please do, we all know you will own this track...so do it!

Harry: to my ears that volume is much better, of course now I want to delete my track once more
after listening to your track again!

Howdy

Long time lurker, first time poster. I did an organ take on this tune along with redant's take, posted on another board a long time ago.

I'd like to get back into playing more, so if you guys don't mind an organ grinder having a go from time to time in here, let me know if this passes muster. :)
