Hey I have a question. When doing this technique (slapping) on guitar, how do you keep from tearing up the back of your fingers? Whenever I've tried to do this it seems like I can only go a few minutes before I start bleeding. The strings just land right where my cuticles are (the base of the fingernails) and that soft skin just gets torn up. Any advice on this?
I'm working out of AYGP by the way. Awesome book/DVD!

there's a guy from Newcastle, PA name of Scott Reeder who is a talent. He played slap guitar and picked with no pick...the band was called Coinmonster.

You have to eat more fish! which part? I hit with my right thumb... left hand mute... right first finger's nail and knuckle? ...then pull... I play light and tight so I never had any problem. Ask me again.
Thanks.
Tomo
The clip sound great. First time I see it.
Just wondering:
- did you use a Comp and delay effect or is it only guitar, amp/cab?
- what's the action (string height) and what gauge do you use?
Thanks

Ha ha yes the Japanese diet is very healthy. When I get up to the G string or higher for popping (pulling with index finger), the B string or E string tends to dig into the skin at the base of the fingernail when I bring it down. So for example if I slap with my thumb on the A string, as I'm preparing to pop the G string, the B string digs into the skin at the base of the fingernail on my index finger. Maybe I just need to make smaller movements and practice better accuracy with my preparation? If anyone has had the same problem as me and been able to work around it I'd like to hear about it. Arregato godaimasta!
That is awesome!!
Thank you!

I LOVE YOUTUBE!!!
Tomo, this one is sweet as well:

I want to get back into experimentation with delay, how many ms delay are you using here and how many repeats/feeback (if you remember)?
Cheers!
--- Wait, maybe there is a delay between the sound and video recording as well....??? Now I'm baffled.

That's from Larry Graham's instructional video. Sam Kawa from Rittor music produced it. I have 2 videos. My son used watch this and Al McCAy, Paul Jackson's instructional videos everyday.
